http://knicks.lohudblogs.com/2007/04/12/you-cant-look-at-this-year-as-a-success/

“You can’t look at this year as a success,” Curry said. “You look at it like, we got a lot better than last year, but we still came short of our goal. Our goal coming into the season was to make the playoffs and get better as a team. We’ve partially fulfilled that, but we still have a long way to go.”

This is what you want a player to say putting this season into perspective. Now back up the talk Curry. It starts with you.

It would be nice to hear him admit that a big reason why the team didn't make the playoffs was that he didn't try on defense.

It would be nice to hear him admit that a big reason why the team didn't make the playoffs was that he didn't try on defense.

He's too busy yelling at his teammates for not making him the focal point of EVERY play to notice that there's a defensive end of the court also.

Until these players take responsibility, they just won't get it. In order to improve, you have to know what you're weak at. They don't. Period.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Good to see Curry speak up. PLain and simple.

A positive sign of a person willing to accept responsibility.

The nit-picking and connecting his words to his less-than-perfect performance is a convenient means of lessening his honest intent to improve as a teammate and a leader.

I can't wait until the next few Knicks are quoted

I'm Curry could've mentioned a LOT of things that he needs to improve on if that was something he wanted to express at this time. I'm pretty sure he's heard that he stunk on D. As well as passing and FT's and TO's. It doesn't change anything in my mind cuz he didn't go into a mea culpa about the many ways he needs to improve to help this team. He's already admitted to the fact that he needs to improve. Listing everything isn't necessary.

I may be wrong but I get the sense that even if he really tried there would be limits to just how good he'd get on the defensive end unless he gets into better shape. That to me is a huge part of his problem. He's got to give his body a break. Carry that extra weight isn't necessary. He'd still be just as strong in the post with 10 or so less lbs. However on D, he'd likely move a lot better and be a bit more inclined to increase his activity level. I think his board work would improve too.

if you think that is the reason, then you have absolutely no clue...

What did he say that was wrong. I think he's got a clue on what he's talking about. Curry's a ginormous 7 foot block of swiss cheese.

Nice words Curry. Lets see you do something about makining next season a success. Oh, and give yourselves some higher standards. Just making the playoffs is too small a goal, IMO.

Nothing wrong with what he said. I also don't think it displays any sort of leadership. It was more just an honest commentary. That being said after reading it a couple times I realize that Curry is a hater.

You're right Bip. He's a hater all the way -- I thought the same exact thing...
"Where we are right now, you can't help but to look back and wonder what would've happened if we would've won some of those games we . . . were supposed to win. It's tough, [but] we did it to ourselves; there's nothing we can do," said Curry.

So despite the injuries, you are telling me that you agree with the ridiculous statement that we didn't make the playoffs simply because curry Didn't try to play defense? So curry's defense although he spent most of the game was the reason why we lost by 30 to the bulls? and why we got off to these slow offensive starts that put us in the hole 90% of the games this year? bonns comment is just ridiculous.

HIs quote is acutally a good one. We got better but still underachieved.

Sound very canned and Isiah like.

IF Curry is that insightful then more power to him.

He actually has a good attidude and is universally liked.

How Curry is still on the Knicks, after that quote, is beyond me.

Dont' be surprised if he starts scoring for the Nets tonight.

Totally agree with you Bip. I have an inkling of a feeling that our Frye/Curry frontcourt is finally gonna start paying some dividends tonight, for the Nets. What a dynamic duo they'll have.

Do you know the difference between "the reason" and "a reason" (or even "a big reason)?
