Collins would have to dramatically improve his offense to be a starter quality player. He is a solid defender and as good of a passer as Marbury (if not better), and he plays under control. But unless he develops not only an outside shot but also a pullup jumper, he is only going to be a solid backup.
IMO pg is not the priority for us. We need a starting caliber SG and a defensive minded PF. If we want a pg too, we would have to trade Marbury and Minny is the only team that I think might take him and even that is a longshot.

I am kinda in agreement here.
I don't know how anyone can say that Collins is a starter/Collins will never be more than a backup after, what?, 10 games of play? This summer will be telling, and if he can improve, he will have shown us something. Even Deron Williams was not starting games for Utah last year and look at how he has improved; the PG spot is TOUGH going from college to the pros.
Can he defend? Looks like it. Can he get guys the ball where they expect it? Not too shabby. Can he run an offense? Don't know yet. Can he shoot? How many years did it take for Gary Payton to get a jumpshot? (No, the two are not the same, yada yada.)
If the Knicks get a shooting guard who can defend the perimeter (even though they have a super glut at 1/2), it will spread the floor and help Curry out, which will in turn help everyone else out.
I am hoping that the Knicks can pull a Crawford/Nate deal to Seattle to clean house.
