Good comparison photos. I don't think Eddy is going to blowup this summar, but I am concerned that he will not significantly improve his conditioning. In order for him to become a better defensive player, he is going to need to lose another 20-25 pounds and work on his lateral quickness.

It's not a contract year.

That said, I don't think the difference is huge. It's a little visible but not a lot. I don't think Curry has ever, including his contract year, been in top shape.
This is how a player with a similar build looks in top NBA shape:

He also avergaes 2blks a night and double figure rebounds can pass the ball and has made everyone he has ever played with better and won 4rings and been to 6finals and is carrying a team at 35.

Whereas our pudgy center hasn't accomplished anything in this league, actually eddy curry is not good at all.

I know your not making the comparison its just a matter of shape but

92-93 23.4pts 13.9rbs 3.5blks as a rookie SHAQ
05-06 20pts 9.2rbs 1.8blks as a 34 year old out of shape, very out of shape and he was still better in every aspect of the game than eddy has been this year

And he was toned and in shape as a bull in his contract year which he will never be again they need to move him asap

It's a good thing that you didn't show the Shaq from the 2002 and 2003 and now with the Heat. The guy that HOF Phil Jackson said put on about 40 pounds after the 2001 season.

glen grunwald said that he will not really lose too much more weight. he said his legs are solid and pure muscle so he's always going to be a big boy.

this is just straight up FALSE.

Either a LIE or just ignorant.

I have seen eddy up close in person, he is FAT. No way around it.

If Curry can lose at least 10 lbs, i'd take that. I really don't expect him to ever get back down to what he was when he had his last season in Chi. The diet pill influenced Curry was a mirage. I don't know what he eats, but i'd bet it's not healthy stuff. There's only so much that exercise can do, if you're taking in too many calories. I would guess that he's eating some pretty high calorie foods. Lot's of meat and fats. I doubt he's a runner either. He's just fit enough to jog back and forth on the court and I don't know if he's ever going to push himself any further than that. I would guess that for how he plays it's not necessary in his mind. He probably thinks that he's in great shape, since he can score on guys and dunk alleyoops. I doubt that he realizes how much more he could do if he was in better shape and able to cover more ground more quickly.

I hope and pray that they can get thru to him just how much better he can be if he sets his mind to it. The problem is that some people are self driven that way and it's hard to infuse that kind of drive in someone if they don't already possess it.

Kind of like teaching/not teaching a team to play with effort and energy every night. That comes from within also doesn't it?

In many ways it does, but you can motivate a TEAM to exert themselves more and it may have an effect on a few guys and that may be just enough to make the entire team play a bit harder. However when it comes to an individual all by himself with a plate of Collard Greens, Mac and Cheese, Corn Bread with Butter, Barbecue RIbs and Chicken and Sweet Potato Pie, that guy doesn't have the support group there to spur him on. That's more of what i'm speaking of.
