Which player would you rather build a franchise around (Zach Randolph or Eddy Curry)?

Not great options to build around Bonn. Seriously Zach can only be a side show (a talented one though)and given Curry's personality he'll never be leading by example. So rather Collins for me, I think he's next year's lock for most improved player and we'll all wonder how Mr. Thomas saw what we didn't see and we'll forship him for it.

They are pretty similiar in terms of production, conditioning, and lack of defense and effort. Two gues with meaninless stats although eddys career numbers are a disgrace. They look like a backup two guard

Zach
06-07 23.7pts 10.1rbs 2.2ass 0.2blks 3.2 tos
career 16.8pts 7.7rbs 1.5ass 0.3blks 2.1 tos

Curry
06-07 19.2pts 7.0rbs 0.8as 0.5blks 3.5tos
career 13.3pts 5.4rbs 0.8ass 0.8blks 2.3tos

Atleast I know Curry wants to be in the NBA. I actually met and talked to Zack and I would take Curry hands down.

are we actually prospecting on who's the bigger loser here? Just dont understand the point of this thread.

i believe the opening question was "who would you rather build a franchise around"? i say neither, unless we're talking about a burger king franchise or something like that.

are you kidding me?????

I think Zach's very similar to but slightly better player than Curry. I was curious if people could objectively view a player who's pretty similar to Eddy and see how crazy the idea of building around him would be.

it's pretty hard to give an objective opinion on something when the author of the thread is biased against the player he wants an opinion on in the first place.

Not necessarily he's asking a point blank ? who would you rather build around. This isn't quite the same as some of the loaded polls that are posted around here.

my answer is Curry... so what's the point here? he just came out saying he was curious to see if people could objectively view a player & see how crazy the idea of building around him is... how objective of a statement is that in your opinion True? just curious.

Well obviously there is a connection but it shouldn't cause one not to give an answer. The reasons why some may not like the idea of building around Zach are probably very similar to those who don't like the idea of building around Curry. Although it's debatable at this point if Portland is even buidling around Zach. These two are close to the same caliber.... Offense first Defense never. I will say in Zach's case at least he grabs 10reb/gm and avg over 2ast/gm. Other than that these 2 are black hole players and my choice would be neither, which should be everyone's answer.

Zach brings all kinds of attitude issues to the table that Eddy doesn't bring... Eddy has questions surrounding his heart condition & his work ethic... i'm not denying both players have issues that objective fans have a right to be concerned about... but this thread is pretty much just another 1 of the many "Eddy sucks" type threads we've seen around here all year long, & it's always by the same posters... so what's the point of it? to bait everyone into yet another meaningless bash on Eddy session? or is it really to spur some kind of logical & objective debate? i'm sorry, but i tend to think it's more of the former than the latter dude.

Blazers 29 wins, Knicks 31 I think that really sums up the effect of both these players, and you can take into account that the blazers are much younger and have less experience than the knicks as well

This is a horrible way to try and make a point. The record of each team is irrelevant to the discussion, since there are many variables outside of the players in question that effect the actual record of each team. You just mentioned one with the Blazers being very young and inexperienced. Not to mention that both teams are trying to establish identities.

Curry to me is a much better choice. How many Coaches and GM's would really want to deal with the extra baggage that Zach brings? Curry may not be a great rebounder and defender, but he's a good guy and he has been trying to improve. I don't see that out of Zach at all. Zach can play, but I think Curry may be more malleable at this point. For the most part, I think he wants to change the things he does wrong on the court. He's even said that he wants to be a team leader at some point.

Honestly, I think both are awful choices to build a franchise around. Zack has a bad attitude and has the Marbury-like issue of putting up great numbers and having no impact. Zack is clearly a better player, but EC has the center position. My big worry with Zack would be finding a complimentary center to play next to him is very tough... so I'd say Curry, since finding a PF better suited than Zack is easier than finding a center better than Curry. For example, I'd rather have Curry + Lee than Zack + Aldridge, although not by a wide margin.

The main point is that neither one is a suitable player to build around. You build around first-tier stars.... or you're flawed from the start. Period.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I intentionally didn't give my opinion in the opening because I wanted the post to be unbiased. But if someone's asking me to *never* give my opinion in the thread, that's retarded.
