Malik Rose has an ETO? hmm. I wonder if he'll just jump ship and go back to San Antonio?

also, what does "limited salary protection" mean?

he would be passing up $14+ million to do so.

I would love to throw some money at Pietrus and hope that the Warriors don't match.

depending what "limited salary protection" means, Warriors are going to have to deal with offers to Monta Ellis and Pietrus. My guess is they'll choose Ellis.

not a chance in Hell he'd give up all that money... he already has a championship ring... his 1st thoughts have to be making the most money he can while he's still in the league... no team's going to pay him that much over the next 2 years... he's got a damn good gig if you think about it... play once, maybe twice a week, & collect a nice fat paycheck just for being a positive presence in the lockerroom... dang, sign me up for some of that action.

currently we have 14 players under contract for next season. we also have chicago's pick this year. that will make 15 guaranteed contracts barring trade and without using the MLE. chances are francis gets bought out so that will open one roster spot.

no MLE signing will start in the backcourt. steph + jamal are all but locked in to be the starting backcourt next season.

Peitrus. though I'd rather have an efficient offensive guy who can play defense guy through the draft. with Jefferies, Balkman, Lee we're going to get too many guys who can't create their own shot if we get Pietrus, too. if we can trade Jefferies, then I'd throw the full MLE at Pietrus no problem.

i don't know... Jamal spent a big part of this season coming off the bench & Q Rich's health is a big question going forward... doesn't seem like Isiah's comfortable starting Q at the SG either.

what would you use the MLE on then if not for a perimeter defending G who can knock down open shots? there aren't any good shotblockers out there except for Mutombo & Zo, & we all know Deke would never want to come back here to play for Isiah & Zo is probably staying put in Miami... that's why i'd rather use the draft pick to nab a shotblocker like Sean Williams & use the MLE on a more polished NBA calibre SG who can play rugged defense & hit the 3 if he's open.

NY should not pick up Pietrus or Stevenson for the MLE. No idea why Pietrus infatuates in these parts-- his shooting and ball handling numbers are sub par. OK, so we hear he can D up, just like DeShawn. But we already have an offensively challenged guard who can D up named Mardy. Not to mention Jeffries and even Balkman. We do not need more of this type of player.

agreed. it's not like Pietrus is doing wonders for GS's defense. we need a better shotblocking presence if we really want better defense.

i think i'd rather have Stevenson because he can take the ball off the dribble & score as well as hit the open shot & plays tough defense... plus he's a little younger than Pietrus by a few months (not that it means that much either way)... & i like the fact that he's used to playing against guys in the Eastern Conference, so he's probably more familiar w/guys' tendencies he'll be facing up with on a nightly basis, & gaining some insights into Eddie Jordan's offensive & defensive schemes can't hurt either.

only names that pop out that can be had relatively cheap (1 year $5 mil deal) may be chucky atkins or joe smith.

people fall through the cracks every year - last year Stephenson and Bonzi Wells thought they were getting more. there's only so many teams who can open their purses.

tevenson is a solid guard who can do a little bit of everything. I would not mind adding him to this team for the right price. The problem is that he is not going to sign here to backup Crawford.

We shouldn't sign a single player this off-season.............
