from Smac-K on RGM:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Renaldo Balkman is our best shot blocker.

You wanna see something really freaky?

Eddy Curry total minutes played: 2,310

Eddy Curry total blocks: 35

Renaldo Balkman total minutes played: 830

Renaldo Balkman total blocks: 38

The way I see it is, our frontline is like the Utah Jazz front line. They cant block for their life. Okur and Boozer combine for .8 blocks per game but thats why AK47 averages 2 bpg. Thats something we can get out of Balkman if he ever got the starters minutes, or if he became a starter and played about 32 minutes per game. But Utah also has Paul Milsap who gives them a block per game off the bench, and I also think the Knicks need another bigman who plays either the 4 or 5 who can come in off the bench and be a presence on defense and block shots.

Other than a backup shotblocker, the other GLARING need I think we have is a starting SG whose a lights-out shooter.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

true but two things: 1) their frontline has more firepower than ours does and more rebounding power (not counting DLee as a starter) and 2) Okur gets 1-2 calls per game off of flops (which I absolutely do NOT want our players to start doing, and wish Malik would STOP) so defensively they help their team a little more

not true.

They may have more firepower, but once we get a nice shooter, our backcourt will be better.

And rebounding ain't true - Curry gets 7 a game. Lee gets the same as Booze if you gave him a few more minutes. And Balkman can easily match Kirilenko's best season if he got 30+ minutes a game.

and 2) Okur gets 1-2 calls per game off of flops (which I absolutely do NOT want our players to start doing, and wish Malik would STOP) so defensively they help their team a little more

Maybe true...but our frontcourt is younger and still has time to imrpve on D.

Well David lee, curry and Q is a pretty good front line. Right now the team is hurting not to mention isiah has been trying to work around a lot of soft play by Jared and channing.

We have already seen the Utah and knicks go head to head. The knicks held their own and held it down.

Its exciting to talk like that. The knicks are so close. Its the next step that has to be made to build on what the knicks already have.

Damn I hate channing frye.

everytime Malik pulls on his man's shorts & drags him to the ground on that step away move in the paint & gets away with it, i crack the F up.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I thought we were talking strictly starters, and I wasn't dissing our front court, I'm just saying they do certain things better and certain things worse

There's a reason I've stopped posting so much on RealGM. Putting the Knicks front court in the same sentence as Utah's is flat out moronic. Okur is an All-Star, Curry is the Hamburglar... Lee is nice, Boozer is really good... AK47 is disappointing, Balkman isn't yet performing even to AK's disappointing season.

Sounds like youre having more personal issues if anything.

Curry is more valuable than Okur my friend...

and i'm no Curry fan.

Whatever. In a head to head real game action the knicks held their own and sucseeded playing against that majestic front court Utah has.

Fuck Utah!

On a serious note.

Zeke already has the pieces for a solid starting froncourt that I think is better than Utah.

Curry > Okur
Lee > Boozer
Balkman < AK47 ---right now anyways. I think Balkman can be AK47 East with better handle.

Zeke just has to realize it.

Curry is just starting to learn to play b-ball, no telling where he'll go from here but even now i'd rather have him on the team than okur. As for Lee, his stats are simular to boozers i think they do pretty much same thing for their teams, boozer is maybe a better defender- but this is pretty much Lee's rookie year and since Lee's bball iq might be better than boozers i am sure he'll eventually become a solid defender.

We'll never have a better frontcourt than the Jazz, but we might end up having a better backcourt...

Yeah, seriously! How many all-star games have Utah's 3 played in compared to ours?

Huh? How you figure?

Right now the jazz have the best young point guard in the league, second only to Nash in assists per game. They lack a shooting guard, but that will definately be fixed in the off season. They still have a terrific athlete in the rookie brewer.

The knicks right now with marbs and craw are already better than Utah in the backcourt.

Now that I think about it, the knicks own Utah! What! What! What!
