At the end of the SAS show, he mentioned that Jerry West had wanted to come to NY and Dolan was interested before he re-upped Isiah.

Then he spend a few minutes ripping everything Jerry West had done since coming to Memphis and giving Gasol the extension.

why couldn't West still come as GM? Of course, you'd have to give Grunwald the boot.

I think you have to let the IT regime take its course. Trying to bring a new powerful GM to work with IT is a problem waiting to happen. A new GM is going to want his own coach. If we are going to keep IT for another year, then we let him run everything with Grunwald's help. If the Knicks fail next year, then you clean house and get a new GM and new coach.

Good Lord... let Isiah coach if you want, but come on. While Jerry West isn't the same GM he used to be, he is clearly an upgrade over the Con Artist from Chicago.

I would love to get Jerry West here to run this ship.

You can bash his tenure in Memphis all you want but they've had seasons of 50,45,49 and that was with a franchise that was terrible before he took over. Granted they never took the next step in the playoffs, West still knows how to put a team together and if we have the chance to bring him here, we need to take it. I don't mind Isiah coaching if West is GM'ing but West NEEDS to be GM.

Oh my god, someone is preaching patience with the Knicks. I can't believe my eyes.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I wonder what would Mempis record be if Gasol hadn't got injured at the beginning of the season. You gotta get a kick out of Knick fans highlighting Jerry West's failures and aplogizing for ISAYUGH's failures.

i'd rather target Jerry Colangelo if i had to choose, but this discussion is moot since Isiah's already been re-upped.

If you look at their franchise going into next season WOW do they have options. The only worrisome thought is ownership change and that has nothing to do with Jerry West.

For what he did in PHX or what he's doing in Toronto?

his son Bryan Colangelo is the architect in TOR... he's mostly following along w/the blueprint he & his dad put into action in Phoenix.

SAS just said he did a poor job with coaches -- Hubie Brown, Mike Fratello both fired.
And he said he hasn't built the team around Gasol properly. Even questioned giving Gasol the money.
I can't remember if he mentioned other specifics.

TMS, I think Jerry Colangelo would be a fine choice as well. I wouldn't argue with either one of them. Alas, you are right though. Isiah has been reupped as Coach, GM, President and it doesnt matter now anyway.

I think the one bad move that really stands out is the Brian Cardinal signing.

Saw Warick play this past week and was impressed with his progress. I think he is going to become a decent player.

Well, one similarity with Isiah is they are both on their fourth coach.

Who cares!

He has a better track record in LA and in Memphis than the Knicks current Brassed Tenure and he won't be coming here as GM.

Does Memphis have a $140mil dollar payroll?

No. 62mil.

Does Memphis still have it's lottery pick(s)

Yes. Cross fingers its 1 or 2.

Does Memphis have cap space next yr?

Not if they sign their draft picks. They'll have something close to the MLE.

Does Memphis have a Franchise talent?

Maybe. Is Gasol considered to be in that top tier? Max player?

Does Memphis have multiple bad contracts on their roster?

Cardinal, Swift, Miller

Does memphis have tradeable assets?

Warrick and Gay maybe.

Is Memphis on the road to a title? Or will they cap out at 50 wins.
