We get Toronto 2 of the next 5 games !!!
Toronto plays Houston & Orlando in the next 5 games !!
We could make up 4 games on them by next week with a little luck !!!
One game out of the division lead !!! 3

It's amazing. I keep thinking we're playing like garbage, yet we continue to climb the ranks.

Either I'm really out of touch, or the East is really lousy this year.

Probably a little bit of both...

only 2 teams in the east are legit, detroit and a healthy miami. and miami isn't healthy.

outside of facing detroit, any team can beat any other team in a best of 7. seedings mean nothing in the east.

The East isn't that good, but also the Knicks are fighting hard to get that spot. Just look at the Nets and how they've done in the last 2 games vs. the Knicks. Just look at Orlando and how they've just crumbled. Indiana isn't looking to great either. You MUST give the Knicks credit for taking care of business despite missing so many players. This team has fought to put themselves in position to benefit from all this. Let's hope we can get healthy in time to face Toronto.

not to quibble, but we've hardly been missing so many players for most of the season and we've treaded water, barely.

Nets are missing players- miami is missing wade.

Isiah needs credit. The knicks of years past would have folded. This years knicks are fighters. Yeah they get blown out by anybody but they can also beat anybody. They also have shown that they will not fold as a group and have still competed no matter who is or how many are hurt.

This is a true race. I know those guys that are in now are watching the knicks. If they lose too many the knicks are coming for their ass in the standings.

the funny thing is that what you posted can be applied to almost any team in the east outside of detroit.

This Conference is Still the Leastern from Top to Bottom. This team may just become the beneficiaries of TRASHY competition.

In the end we play the same teams that everyone else in the East does. This team has kept away from any long losing streaks and unfortunately no long winning streaks either, but in the end that won't matter if we can finish strong. There's a LOT of parity in the East. We're just off the pace at this point and that's actually a GOOD THING! Don't always take the negative approach to this teams record. Look at the trend for this team, despite lots of injuries:

6-11
7-9
7-8
6-5
2-0

That's nothing to be ashamed of. With all of these healthy problems this team has still found a way to keep moving forward. With a win against Seattle this team can get off to a GREAT start in March and maybe build some momentum.

Boy' were was all of this positive talk when I wanted to talk about it? Our conference simply sucks, that's why we're so lucky to be at the threashold.

With 21 games to play, just ONE - two or three game win streak, while avoiding consecutive losses... puts 40 wins within reasonable reach.

I think it's a farce to be so concerned about the fact that the East is the weaker conference. It's really only the top teams in the West that are actually stronger. There's more parity in the NBA outside of the top 5-6 teams. The West just has more of the better teams in it, but they still have a lot of bad teams as well.

The Knicks are an improving team, by any stretch of the definition. They're better than they were at the start of the year and gradually improving.

I was just going to state the same thing. For the most part there aren't that many strong teams in the NBA at all, East or West.

Most of the teams the Knicks have played are well within their capability to beat, so just because there are perhaps 6 top teams that are the cream of the crop and we only face some of those teams 2x a year, doesn't invalidate their season.

Besides it almost doesn't matter who the Knicks play. This team allows every team a chance to win. They just don't defend well enough. Still this team is one of the better offensive teams and they can score with just about any team, so they have been able to win games as they've been able to defend a bit better when it counts.

15-13 against non-division eastern confernce
11-12 against the west

I take alot of what you haters say with a grain of salt. The team isnt a title team by any standard, but the day in day out bitching is mind numbing. THe knicks are getting better, the record proves it!!!!!1



2-9 against the Atlantic............. that's what's killing the knicks and keeping them from being .500.

other than DET, i think the Knicks can play w/any of the teams in the East in a playoff series funny enough... CLE would probably pose the most problems, but if Q is healthy & can D up on Lebron w/Jefferies & Balk, then i think they'd have a shot... WAS would pose problems too, but Arenas is very streaky & Marbury's playing the best ball in a long time right now... i think it's realistic to think they could win a few games in that series.

not trying to get my expectations up tho, cuz they've shown all year that they follow up good W's & mini streaks w/equally mind blowing bad losses... this is what they are, a mediocre team trying to find some consistency.

Why get trashed in the playoffs against a top seed and look stupid doing it.
