I think I'm leaning towards the avenue of building this club almost primarily

through the draft. You acquire enough good young assets--you put yourself into position as a player for a big time player via trade. OR you just draft 9-10 guys and keep them together for 10 years.

Hopefully we'll spend the money or make trades to have 1-2 more picks for the draft. We might need to spend the 1mm dollar exemption on a pro back up PG--but I so no need to overspend on salaries.

Definately. If Zeke's going to be around, try to work to his strength. I'd like to see us make use of the D League if we can't find room in the rotation.

the best thing this club could've done was go all in for a guy like jermaine or kg and try to win it all within 3 years.

if we traded jalen + lee + frye + nate for kg, that gives you a lineup of steph, q, jj, kg, curry with crawford + filler off the bench. that may be enough to get to the finals. that WAS the best course of action.

but now, well we can't do anything really other than draft or use the MLE. we have no expirings and i have zero confidence in isiah's trading ability.

I agree with Briggs. I think the way to go it try one more year with this group and if it doesn't work, we have our own pick in 2008 (protected up to no.25) and then we can start ditching pieces, get a real high pick in 2009 (again protected up to like no23/24) and try to create cap room for the summers of 09 and 2010.

I would have gladly traded Frye for a late lotto pick at the deadline, I hope Isiah considers some Frye moves at the draft.

since Pietrus will be a restricted FA this summer, do you think the Warriors would consider Frye for Pietrus and a pick at draft time?

The one thing everyone seems to forget. We couldn't get KG or Jermaine, because no one wanted our over priced, overated players. And we had no money (we never' have any money) to spend to get them to New York. The same exact thing happened when Chris Webber wanted to come to New York several years ago and just recently, when Kobe said he wanted to play here. These's guys aren't stupid! Does anyone think Webber would play next to Houston, who was making a killing or does anyone think Kobe would play for a few mil when starbury's making 18 mil? Hell no!!!

LOL. I'd love to rebuild through the draft and free agency but it's hard to rebuild through the draft without draft picks and lousy assets to use to obtain draft picks. And it's hard to rebuild through free agency with only the MLE--let alone with the MLE and a GM who makes awful MLE signings.

Phx has the blue print.

Good drafting with Marion and taking a chance on Amare. Figure out your style of play and dump the excess. Then obtain players with good trades (Joe Johnson) and if you can't pay him you get a rising solid player in Diaw and Atlantas no. 1 pick!

On the way, figure out who you are and get the right Free Agent (Nash) for a decent price.

THe proof of that is you end up with a two time MVP and are a annual contender. Is that enough to win it all? Problem is you have another smart owner in Cuban who is willing to make changes and take chances also. But he does it with young players.

Yes, briggs is right, you must cultivate your own talent to either keep or trade to get what you need!

As they say: " Grow your own "!

WIth this team, I don't think any Vince or KG on this team is gonna make us good enough to win big.

Im convinced CryBury is really softer than I originally thought! I like the way he is playing, but lets be real, its an improvement over last year, but this guy still may be the reason we can't put it together.

I'd like this. even the still trying to win with this group next year part. I just hope Isiah feels the same way, I don't think he does though. it'd be pretty cool though if the knicks really started rebuilding though. but I haven't given up on frye yet though. I don't think he should be traded.

well as long as Isiah doesn't make horrible after horrible personnel move like the hawks front office have, that won't be a problem. anyway I think just about all well run rebuilding teams have vets on them to help lead.

I agree Briggs. With a draft this deep I would not be adverse to having as many as 3 picks in just the first round. With the youth we already have, plus what we would be able to get, as long as we have some veteran, Malik Rose/Kelvin Cato type vets for leadership, I'm good.
