With 2/3 of Charlotte's season finished, it's clear the most important part of 2007 for the Bobcats will come this summer.

Jordan will never again have a better opportunity to mold the team. Never.

Great luck in the draft lottery would help. Even with no luck, Charlotte will have a chance at a great player in this deep draft.

Jordan, quite possibly, will hire a new coach to replace Bickerstaff.

Jordan will have the green light to spend Johnson's money to bring in an impact free agent. Choosing the right one is essential; Vince Carter will be among the possibilities.

Choosing the right one is essential; Vince Carter will be among the possibilities."

And whether the Bobcats do this very well or very badly, the decisions made this summer will resonate for years.

The head Bob of the Bobcats -- Charlotte majority owner Bob Johnson -- says he will spend whatever is necessary to win big.

Think of Vince Carter in Charlotte with Raymound Felton and GERALD Wallace and Okafor Morrison 6th man WOW

isn't Gerald Wallace a RFA after this season? will they have the cap room to re-sign him if they spend their wad on Vince?

the bobcats are my 2nd favorite team in the league behind the knicks (except for when they stink it up like they did against the nets the other night - then the bobcats are my favorite team in the league ). in watching them play, and i do watch almost every single game on league pass, they are still trying to find themselves as a team. that's why they will beat a team like dallas or detroit, then lose to the likes of boston, golden state and portland.

they are young, REAL young: felton looks like a young marbury out there (shoot first, pass second type), morrison cant spell defense yet, let alone play it, and garald wallace is about a year or two away for being a bonafied SUPERSTAR. we wont even get into sean may....only guy on this team right now that is consistently solid is ok4.

i believe that charlotte should get that one impact player they need, but it should not be vince. i think they would be better off spending their money on a guy like garnett who, along with ok4, would SHUT DOWN the paint. he also provides them with scoring options and MUCH NEEDED defensive prowess. BUT, the MOST important thing a guy like garnett would bring is the ability to lead the team, which, sad to say vince cannot do. with minds as young and impressionabloe as what exists in charlotte right now, you need a steadying force and a leader that won't let the youngs get away with ****it!

then, pair that up with a teacher type coach like LB, and now we're talking about a real solid future.

thoughts?

with jordan in charge i think we have nothing to worry about, had they just drafted roye this summer i would pretty much concede they would have been a power in the east for a decade, but if they take a two and make some cost efficient signings they will be very tough

i was wondering about garnett in charlotte- is that at all plausible? they have the money. if garnett opts out of MIN, would he be interested in building something or would he take less to contend immediately? are the bobcats even considering it?

Felton
Morrison

i think after KG's comments about opting out...oops, i mean, opt's (as in options), every GM in the league will be taking a hard look at him over the summer. so what if he's not up for freeagency until the following year, at this point, if he wants out, mchale will let him go AND the bobcats are one team that can absorb his GIGUNDA salary.

also, garnett is a HUGE jordan fan. who knows what will happen though in reality, b/c of teams like the lakers (who only need one more person to make a run at it) are very enticing for KG b/c of the immediacy of a championship run...and, we all know that is important to KG right now. my only hope would be that charlotte can still pay him whereas a team like the lakers - he may have to go to for a paycut.

we shall see...

So this is what this board has come to? We're discussing the construction of contender... in Charlotte??? Blasphemy... Didn't you guys get the memo? Isiah acquired Steve Francis specifically for the KG deal.

Didn't you guys see the trend on the bobcats ?

North Carolina Alumni- M.Jordan- felton-may-mcginnis, tells me Vince Carter would fit right in + ticket sales would increase tremendously.

I don't think that Jordan is going to be any better at running the Bobcats than he was with the Wizards. The Bobcats were on the right track. They made a serious mistake hiring Jordan.

I wonder what the first day of practice would be like with Brown. Walking up to Morrison and saying 'aren't you one of those guys I call one of the most overrated players in college.'
'Yes...Yes, I am Coach. I am the guy you said you wouldn't trade Curry or Marbury for. Nice to meet you.'
'Anybody got McKey's number?'
