I'm saying this to those who really think this team will accomplish this.

Here are my reasons why in no particular order

. They have spent over a month trying to gain the division lead being as close as 1/2gm back and now are further back than ever

. They are 2-7 in the division

. They are 15-20 against the Eastern Conference

. They are 7gms under .500 near 60gms into the season in the worst Division in NBA HISTORY

. They play terrible defense as a team

. They have a hard time playing against NBDL caliber players

. They have no go-to dependable crunch time player

. They don't have a dominant franchise player

. They have a terrible backcourt and frontcourt in terms of BB IQ.

. Their coach is overwhelmed

. Their best player is David Lee

. Toronto is 4 real N.J. appears to be rejuvinated

. Losing to teams not even in the race

Feel free to add anything that's necessary

This team loses almost 60% of its games. How hard is it to find the "right" occasion?

Not really because playoff talk really didn't start being publicly mentioned until about 2 weeks ago.

Do it after a win. Some here find fault in those too.

well you forgot about the turnovers. but yea i guess it seems unlikely we will make the playoffs, since the 4th seed is looking like less of a possibility. i mean the race for the 8th spot is basically between us and NJ to take it from Orlando, so anything can happen I guess, but everything would have to go right, and we'd really have to lock down and start playing better today, and we've said that about 3 times already and we haven't made good on those words. so i don't think it will happen (and if it does, we'd end up facing Detroit in the 1st round), but hey you never know

Our season, like most games, will be contingent upon Jamal getting hot in the fourth quarter.

Seriously, divide the season into quarters and the parallels between our season and a typical game are striking:

Dig a hole in the first quarter; Curry gets hot in the second to give us hope; then instead of picking up momentum we struggle in the third; then we persevere to make a valiant effort to close out the forth, which usually requires a hot hand and a prayer by Jamal.

We are currently in the third quarter struggling when we should be closing things out. We'll stick with it and give a run in the fourth. Marbury will hit a couple, then dribble off his foot, but if the gods are smiling on us, Jamal will play like a man possessed.

Otherwise... there's always next year.

You often hear intense competitors talk about what they need to do better even after wins. Good teams find faults in wins. Bad teams celebrate 1 game winning streaks

Yep you had some fans here not thrilled at all by the Milwaukee win because the team played like trash. LO-AND-BEHOLD they follow up that performance with an underwhelming showing in New Jersey.

i know that's why I can't understand when people say that a win is a win for this team. 9 times out of 10 it's Barely Win vs a Mediocre Team, then the next night get Blown Out by A Really Bad Team. I mean if you told me that they're aware of it and they're constantly self-evaluating these things then I can live with it but I can't stand the fact that they and Isiah pat themselves on the back after those Wins (near-losses). malik rose was talking about the same thing I think, he said they get too pleased with themselves or something like that. and he hit it right on the head

Of course we're not a playoff team.

Curry gets played by Collins, a hack of a player, he's Kurt Thomas without the offense.

Ya, Curry's SOOOO dominating, but somehow Collins holds him below his season average everytime, and it'll happen again.

Ya, Crawford's SOOO clutch that he goes 5/30 or something and practically HELPS us lose the game.

Crawford is clutch with 10 seconds to go, and is INSANELY unclutch the rest of the game. Sure he'll go off once in a blue moon, but otherwise he's one of the worst fits for a team like this.

Curry is the most quote on quote "valuable" asset we have. This orginization is so poorly run that we don't even know what kind of team we're building, meanwhile Colangelo comes in, and half a season later they have an identity, a superstar, and a legit playoff team.

What's our identity?

Marbury and Curry are halfcourt players.

Lee, Crawford, Balkman, etc. are all uptempo players.

And then you have mutts like QRich and Jefferies.

So what is it?

You go with Lee and Crawford, or Marbury and Curry.

WHAT IS IT!!?
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I mean for ****s sake we're not even a TEAM.

We're a collection of high priced talent with no direction.

It's like Isiah's philosophy is the equiv. of a ritzy basketball buffet table.

BARF!

This Team Will Not Make The Playoffs

is that some sorta revelation? i thought most people here didn't think this was a playoff team to begin with this season... now all of a sudden some people's expectations have gotten higher after guys are starting to do down to injury... shouldn't expectations be getting LOWER if you start losing guys? just a thought.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Playoffs expectations rose when teams like NJ, Miami, Chicago, Boston, etc, vastly underperformed.
