NEW YORK: F-minus-minus-minus-minus
When everything's said and done, Isiah's decision to buy out Jalen Rose (to save $500K) over keeping him, sending him home and hoping his contract could land a blue-chipper in February will go down as his dumbest decision of the past four years. And that's saying something. Jalen's cap figure (along with Frye, Nate Robinson and Chicago's No. 1) easily could have landed them someone in the Vince-Allen-Pierce-Iverson-Kidd group. How can a team with a $129 million payroll sabotage their trade hopes for $500K? My head hurts.

I don't get why people take Bill Simmons so seriously. He's a Boston homer who bags on people.

Besides, the way he cracks on us you'd think Zeke threatened to kick his ass or something.

Wait a minute....

I happen to agree with him here. Either IT or Dolan cut him on purpose not to save the money but to make sure they dont get tempted to make another bad trade at the deadline considering what happpened last yr with francis. and ya know what, i don't blame the knicks for doing it because they probably would have made a bad deal in the end somehow.

Every guy Simmons listed (with the exception of Ray Allen who wasn't actually available) plays in the Atlantic division. no Atlantic team would trade their all-star to the Knicks.

I mean, I didn't like the move of waiving jalen and Mo T either, but I like it better than making a desperation trade at the deadline.

Simmons rips every team in the league. At least we got a F-minus minus minus minus. Some teams (the Nets) got an F-infinity-minus, the Clips got a "G" (which we all know is worse than F), and the Cavs got a - get this - a Z-infinity minus.

Come to think of it, I got a few of those back in my school days.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

i love the fact that a guy would rip the Knicks for taking steps to finally be fiscally responsible & then in the very next sentence takes a rip at them for having a ridiculously bad cap situation... this is the game guy that takes repeated shots at the team for going after past their prime veterans w/huge bloated contracts in the past.

& anyone who thinks an expiring contract & Frye, Nate & CHI's pick woulda landed them Paul Pierce is smokin something.

Dude there is no reason to show fiscal restraint, you simply hold onto the contract if you have a brain no one is saying we had to make another bad decision.

If Dolan didn't want him to make a terrible deal than dolan should have held the veto power. It was just another in a long line of terrible isiah moves, there is no harm in saying go home and get healhty relax or whatever we will pay you.

if something came up, why not.

i suppose you woulda supported Isiah if he'd given up Frye, Nate & CHI's #1 along w/an expiring for Ray Allen's horrendous contract at the trade deadline, or for a 2 month rental of Vince... yeah, i'm sure you would have.

No i wouldn't have taken that deal, and I wouldn't have to used an expiring deal for Francis at last years deadline......would you?

I think you just hold onto them instead of getting rid of them? Do you think that was smart?

You don't have to use them to bring in a subpar player and take back a bad contract; i would say that every deal he has done with an expiring deal he was come out the loser.

But your looking at 24 million in expiring deals, there is always a chance a team could want that in an effort to start over....

You think isiah has pulled off a lot of good moves?

I love simmons, but what he does not get is that we are not planning at staying at this cap level anymore.

So we take a pass on those players.

The Starphuching era is hopefully over!

If your happy with his unwillingness to move crawford or really have a chance to get something to improve a team that has little positives for the future i guess thats cool, but an intelligent gm doesn't get rid of his chips when he may have a chance to use them.

Crawford, Frye and an expiring maybe gives you a shot at AI, and then maybe you can move him to denver in a three way deal, get someone like Andre Miller and some picks and still have an expiring and picks to give up in a deal, you need to evaluate all options

PORTLAND: C-minus
Could the Blazers have used Magliore's contract and pursued the likes of Andre Miller, Gerald Wallace, Rashard Lewis, Mike Miller, a Brent Barry/Beno Udrih/No. 1 package or whatever else was out there? Yeah, absolutely. But let's cut them some slack because they're headed in the right direction -- just think where they'd be if Paul Allen hadn't squashed the "Darius Miles/Theo Ratliff for Penny Hardaway's expiring contract and David Lee" deal last winter. Every columnist who praises Isiah this season -- because anyone who lords over a 24-31 team with a $129 million payroll and no lottery pick clearly deserves praise, right? -- should be obligated to mention that Paul Allen's veto saved Isiah from getting assassinated by an irate Knicks fan after Lee's first 25-rebound game for the Blazers this season.

i am not sure it thats true, but wouldn't doubt it

New York Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Jamal Crawford
6-5 SG from Michigan
18.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.3 apg in 37.7 minutes
Channing Frye
6-11 PF from Arizona
10.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 25.5 minutes
Incoming
Jason Richardson
6-6 SG from Michigan State
13.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.7 apg in 30.4 minutes

I think we should serioulsy look into this deal I know the guy was injured, but I really like his game he is a good shooter and would be nice in an uptempo attack. Frye is soft and we need to start putting together a team.

Marbury/Collins
Richardson/Nate
Q/Balkman
Lee/Jefferies
Curry/Rose

I think we begin to move in the right direction, and targeting his teammate Pietrus wouldn't be a bad idea either.

And if you want to get really crazy, and take yourself out of the Wade/Bosh/Lebron sweeptakes

New York Trade Breakdown
Outgoing
Malik Rose
6-7 PF from Drexel
2.0 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 8.9 minutes
Jared Jeffries
6-11 SF from Indiana
3.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.9 apg in 20.5 minutes
Incoming
Kenyon Martin
6-9 PF from Cincinnati
9.5 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 31.0 minutes

You could try that, but we def need JRICH

this guy probably isn't familiar with some past GMs of ours. Plus when you haven't won in over 30 years, a few years doesn't mean much.

Would you rather have crawford and frye not playing any defense or upgrading your size and giving you a real two, or stay with the **** we have, he is one of the few guys we can get, i think mullin would be open because they need another big

He had gotten better every year in the league till this one

6'6 225lbs 26years old
04-05 21.7pts 5.9rbs 3.9ass 1.5stls 44%
05-06 23.2pts 5.8rbs 3.1ass 1.3stls 44%

Crawford
6'5 190lbs 26years old

05-06 14.3pts 3.2rbs 3.8ass 1.1stls 41%
06-07 17.9pts 3.3rbs 4.4ass 1.0stls 40%

Or you can go with what you have, Lee is the best player on the team and needs to play 38 minutes he is going to get better in the offseason, and you would like Curry to play 35 minutes, i think this is the one move that upgrades the team that is realistic and could work.
