He said that on a radio show commenting on John Amaechi. He said he hates gay people and hates being around them.

I liked Amechi's response:
Amaechi, meanwhile, was quoted in Le Batard's column in Thursday's Miami Herald saying that he was grateful for Hardaway's words.

"Finally, someone who is honest. It is ridiculous, absurb, petty, bigoted and shows a lack of empathy that is gargantuan and unfathomable. But it is honest. And it illustrates the problem better than any of the fuzzy language other people have used so far."

Some pretty openly bigoted remarks from Timmy. Crazy.

Timmy is a hateful little SOB, but I've always considered it a positive to be in the eye of his ire.

Tim Hardaway on the Knicks:

^Most homophobes are closet gays. Does that mean that Timmy is a closet Knick?

Wow, Timmy... real class there. I hate people who are such azzholes. But this does bring me back to Amaechi, he announced this to everyone. The people who accept it pretty much say whatever. The people who take notice are the ones who hate gays. So, why come out of the closet? To piss off those who hate gays and rub it in their faces? Or is it to sell extra copies of his new book?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

If you were to say Tim Hardaway was gay I would totally believe it. He has totally gay manerisms even the way he speaks. I think we have a closet gay on our hands here lashing out for some obvious insecure reason

If I were the interviewer, I would have said, "Tim, how would you feel if someone else said, 'I hate black people. I hate being around them'?"

Tim Hardaway is an idiot. Absolutely plain and simple, what an idiot.

I loved it when we used to beat the Heat and Timmy would get so worked up.

Ameachi handled his comments great! Very classy guy. IT was a tasteful response to a difficult comment.

I thought barkley's comments were funny. Saying that the fist to do so (Come out of the closet) while playing would clean up on endorsements!

Its that so many think that gay men just want to "do" all men. Dudes like Timmy just think that all gay men want him?

I think i'd feel uncomfortable if any dude was to glaring at me in the shower with an erection regardless of their sexual orientation. By the way, are the showers in NBA lockerrooms all open? Or individual stalls?

Other than showers, what is the big deal with having a gay man on the team?

Tim's comments were stupid and he is already feeling the heat because Stern blocked him from representing the NBA in future events, which has got to hurt. That is why he apologized shortly thereafter.

Amaechi is a f**kin genius. This guy was a mediocre player at best but is going to rack up on this book deal. And trust me, this whole coming out the closet was for one purpose only, to sell his damn book. I have no problem with gay men as long as they don't hit on me, which has happened before and made me feel real uncomfortable. In my view, more gay men means less competition for me with the women.

Being hit up on by gays is uncomfortable, but no more so than being hit up on by women one isn't interested in. Probably less so. It's a lot easier to just tell someone you're straight then to have to manufacture some sort of excuse without hurting their feelings.

Bonn makes a great point there. I imagine that it wouldn't have gone over too well. Gotta love obvious double standards by jerks.

Great point. It's really hard when an average woman is being very persistent and you're thinking "my god, woman, you're fxcking boring, please leave me alone." If she's hot, you can live with a boring woman... for a while. The straight excuse works like a charm if a gay is hitting on you. I wonder if you can use the opposite if a woman is hitting on you. LOL.

After hearing the audio of Tim Hardaway actually saying these things I have come to the conclusion that in fact he is gay.

If not outwardly - it is definately deeply repressed and he is attracted to men but wont allow him self to accept it.

I am shock by Tim Hardaway comments but I am equally shock to see many here that seem to be outraged by his comments while in the past, made disparaging comments about others sexual preference (i.e Isiah Thomas, Marbury and a number of posters). That's not just here though. I agree with Amaechi when he says that Hardaway's comments are honest.

I don't know which posters or comments you're referring to, but I think you're being far too literal in your readings of a sports message board. If someone complains about Eddy's weight would you assume that to mean they hate overweight people in general? If they think MArbury isn't a very bright leader do you assume they're equally offended by the SAT scores of their deli guys?
