After slamming Curry (talking a bit too much lately) and Lee (sacrificing D for rebounds) a little bit, he just suggested Frye, Nate and whoever to Sacto for Ron-Ron.

He says we need a "DAWG". :)

It's on right now if you're interested.

artest, ray allen or vince carter are the only three IMHO that can put us over the top.

We'd have to sacrifice qrich to obtain any of them as qrich is a sf and a leader and if we bring in any of those guys, we are going to have to ship out a head.
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

I agree about Vince and Ray Allen. I'm not so sure Artest would put us over the top since, but I would be very interested in getting him.

and that's with giving up minimal assets. Artest is the cheapest as he only has a modest contract (in the malik rose vicinity I think)

I'd like to keep everyone. Qrich is the leader and if we somehow could dislodge francis and jerome for picks or anything I'd be ecstatic.

i suggested a pretty similar trade in my Artest Trade poll thread:

http://ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=19959

at this point, i think i'd take a flyer on making a deal like that... he's a ticking time bomb, but the talent is just too much to pass up on... having him & Q Rich defending guys on the perimeter will help matters a lot... then Curry & D Lee can do what they do best, which is scoring in the low post for Curry & rebounding the ball for D Lee.

we'd still need a shotblocker though.

While I have always been a big fan of Artest, and villified the Knicks for not drafting him (not as if I am in the minority there) some announcer/expert made an interesting comment recently (If I recall correctly) about how he feels that for all of the good things about Artest's game he wondered if Ron thinks he is better than he actually is. In other words, questioning if Artest overvalues his game, especially on the offensive end, where his jumper and ability to score, while good, is not as strong as he might believe, which could cause a problem for some teams.

I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but it seems like something to consider. That being said, Artest would instantly help us on the defensive end of the floor, to state the obvious, and add some fire.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

I would rather see if we could get a guy like Lamar Odom for Francis and Frye. We need to consolidate our talent and Odom is a good passing big man, solid defender, and can hit the outside shot. The lakers need talent at PG and PF. I know last year they were interested in Frye. I would see if we could get them to bite on a trade like that. Lineup would be Marbury, Crawford, Q, Odom, and Curry, with Lee backing up Curry and Odom.

I am in the "just say no" camp as far as Artest. This team is too young to expose them to the circus that is Artest. The only qualifier is that IT has been the only man that has really been able to handle Artest, so maybe he could do it here. Talent-wise getting Artest would be great, but so would the risk.

how much value do you guys think frye has right now?
it's lower than it was last year.
you have a 7 games under .500 team and he is being outplayed by the #30 pick and curry.
that's his perception around the league.

what is his real value?

you may get artest b/c he's a cancer.

but odom? NO WAY.

While I would love Odom, I think the Lakers are pretty happy with their PG situation. Smush has played pretty well and Farmar is only a rookie and putting up some decent numbers. Kobe handles the ball most of the time anyway, so Smush and Farmer are really there for defense as well as spot shooting, which both are good at. I don' think PG is really a big concern for Phil and his Triangle offense, I could be wrong though and my perspective is just an outsiders perspective.

Good point about Artest. While his talent is great, he is still a real question mark. He could flourish or he could flop here back at home. His contract isn't terrible though so if the time comes, swallowing his contract wouldn't be a disaster. I'm on the fence about him though.

yeah, no way the Lakers pull that deal now... the time to do it was last season... Frye has played himself into being a role player off the bench this season... no team is going to trade a proven bonafide star calibre player for him unless he has some baggage.

I don't disagree that Frye's value has dropped some, but he still has alot of potential as an offensive player, which he has not been able to really show because of Curry's emergence. I think alot of teams are interested in him. Whether the Lakers would give up Odom is questionable, but I think it is a credible offer that IT should pursue. Odom is good enough defensively to put beside Curry and he also has the outside game to compliment Curry's game.

We sorely need a rugged player with heart who wants to win at all cost...A guy to play with the heart of an LJ or Spree...Artest could be that guy but I won't give up anything valuable for him...His next meltdown and he gone from the NBA...

Our players wilt under pressure...Craw shows up but make a lot of bone head plays in the end...Craw can just take the last shot...Marbs probably can do it but Isiah has not asked him yet...The key is getting the player with the heart and head to have the ball in the end...
