Along with some other Knicks players, Steph endured a lot of boos at the start of the season and what seemed like a cold shoulder from Isiah. For all the criticism he took early on, I feel he deserves some praise now.

Steph fought through all the negativity and has transformed himself into a more complete player and a significant leader on the team. All the areas in which he was criticized, he has improved:

Floor game: Steph has shown recently that he can move the pieces around the floor in order to set up plays and maximize advantages. When Jamal was hot, he made every effort to get him the ball. When Eddy doesn't see the ball for a while, he makes sure that he gets in in the post. Last night, when Q was struggling, Steph gave up an open lay-up to give one to Q in order to get him going. Also, more importantly I've seen him start to understand when he needs to score during a game and when to get other people involved.

Defense: Although not an elite defender, Steph has significantly picked up his defensive effort, playing the pick and roll more aggressively and guarding much larger 2 guards effectively for some games. Other teammates pick up on his energy and we've started to see some improvement in the area

Toughness: Always known as a bull, Steph playing some of the best ball of his career while clearly injured. None of us know how severe his knee problems are, but kudos to him for toughing it out and helping the team earn some important W's.

Adaptability: I don't see a player overly concerned with getting his 20&8 anymore. He's not pouting now that he's not the main focus of a team. He knows when to turn the Starbury switch on and when to make the simple post pass. If his shot isn't falling, he won't force the issue. He seems to understand it's more important to get the rest of the team involved.

If Steph can cut down on his turnovers, I can see him leading this team to bigger things. Anyone want to add more positive things they've seen from Steph?

I love how we have constant reminders to give Steph credit. This happens like once a month. Is it absolutely necessary?

I think Marbs has gotten a lot of praise on this board the past few months and it is all deserved. I agree with you EFW, he has really bought into the system and has made a great attempt at leading this squad.

I do think his earlier criticism was as much deserved as his current praise. That's NY, if you perform the fans will let you know. IF you don't the fans will let you know as well.

If you guys are tired of redundancy, why are you posting on this forum? Once a month is too much to give some credit? jeez. maybe if I make another thread about wasted MLE money, or Frye's mediocrity, or Curry's one sidedness I'll be able to avoid the cracks.

I see improvement in Steph over the last month. shocking, I know. Is this thread necessary? no. Is your inane comment? ...

Great, he's played a month or two of constructive ball without holding the franchise hostage.

Fooor, he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellOOOOOW... which nobody can deny...

I think Steph does deserve credit for a very good year and we should post about it. There were dozens of posts talking about his flaws and why we don't need him, but the guy plays great and now people want to complain about too many posts about giving credit. IMHO if you are willing to criticize, you should equally be willing to praise.

And whose not praising? I can't even think of anyone who has been critical of Marbury since early December.

Listen, there is a ceiling to the amount of love we are going to show players outside of David Lee...So please, once per season for Marbs is more than enough...

the point is that no one's criticizing, but no one's praising.

I started this thread because people say no one posts after wins. Well here it is. If you don't have anything to add (besides how stupid the post is) how about refraining from posting? If no one cares, the thread will die. All these stupid cracks makes you guys look like 2 year olds.

Now, anyone else want to point to some specific aspect of Steph's game they think has improved.

I think it's a fair post by EFW and I have no problem with him posting it. I think the title is a little off because he has been receiving praise for a couple months now. So unless EFW was talking about it's time for him to give Steph credit I think the title could be tweaked. But it doesn't take away from the good points that EFW made. I do like Marb's play and prey that as we win he maintains and doesn't revert to "starbury" again.

The problem is that your subject makes it sound like people were still dogging Marbury. No one has dogged Marbury and various people including myself have given him a ton of credit. Can you tell me where you see a Marbury Sucks thread that was posted in the last month+? I don't think there has been one and people have been giving Marbury his proper praise.

I agree with EFW here. People may mention some praise in passing, but there hasn't been one thread praising him. In comparison, we've probably 100 to 200 threads this season praising Curry.

He is fighting over picks, he is denying the ball, he keeping his guy in front of him. Stephon is playing really well. I'm amazed Isiah is able to get all this production out of him. I had seriously thought he was done in NYC. I even posted "failed experiment" when referencing him. He has really kicked ass in the last few months.

Good job steph! Keep it up.

LOL. Bonn with his Anti-Curry rhetoric in a Marbury thread! Well, there are 100 to 200 threads knocking Curry too. The point of the thread is to give Steph credit, not to talk about the popularity of another player.
