Im pretty surprised, I always thought he had potential but for some reason I didnt imagine that he would ever show it. Im less concerned with his rebounding then his defense. If he can give us 1 block a game I think that would be a huge improvement. But the way dude looks on offense is sick. Just 3 months ago this guy couldnt go to the hole without running someone over. Then he picked up some moves and started dominating. Then came the double temas and he couldnt handle them. Then he picked up a couple more moves and kept dominating. Hes only getting better, and I think that in a couple of years, if he keeps his weight in check, he could be a 24/10/1 type of player. Hes reaaly impressed me this season and may be the only reason why Isiah keeps his job.

I'm very happy with how far Eddy has come in the last 3 months. The rebounding does not bother me cause we are the best rebounding team. I just wish he starts keeping his man in front of him and putting a hand in a shooter face. Also, closing up the paint on defense. But I can wait till next year for that.

I'm disgusted that they have to cut into David Lee's playing time by starting James because Curry is still useless on the defensive end.

Every move is made with Curry in mind like he's a franchise player. He's not.

This is his 6th year in the league. Do you think he's going to come back next and say, "this is the year I'm going to play defense"?

the guy has shocked me. I thought he might put a nice run together, but I didn't think he could sustain wanting to compete and score on people when teams started to come with a double team on him every night. He's a lot tougher of a character than I thought he was. He also looks in shape. Man, I hope his heart is O.K. Hopefully, in the future he will take as much offence to guys scoring on him as he does them trying to stop him from scoring.

If you were told that they were going to center their universe around Eddy and look to pound the ball into him every chance they got, would you be that surprised at Eddy being 3 whole points over his previous career high in points?

he's always been a good scorer. He's always had great FG%s. Now he's getting the ball 25 times a game. I'm not really suprised, no. The only (slim) hope is he becomes so comfortable with his ability to score he actually puts some effort into the other parts of the game. Is such a pivotal position on defense and he's such a liability there. I cant ever see the Knicks really going to the next level with a center that doesnt lift his arms on D.

I think I would see what happens in the offseason. If he shows up 25 pounds lighter and ready to play than I'm excited and I think he's taken the next step. If he shows up his usual Warren Sapp body than I feed him the ball, pump up his #s (as he have this year) and look to move him by Christmas

fish how is he pumping up his numbers?

hes almost automatic in the paint and the athleticism the guy posesses at his stature is pretty darn good

i agree with him losing a few more pounds, but 25 is too much his body is one of the reasons why he's effective....

i think the D can get there, he has said he will do whatever he needs to to be a complete player, so hopefully he keeps his word

Mixed. He's further along than I would've expected, but at the same time, he has not improved, and, in some cases, regressed, in all the areas that gave me concern. It's a tough pill to swallow.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

That's the same reaction I have. He might actually be the best low-post scorer (NOT low post player but low post scorer) in the league. But he's also the worst or pretty close to the worst starting center in many other areas of the game. I was really hoping he'd come into camp in top shape but he didn't. That's what disappointed me more than anything else. Our franchise is depending on him and it's obvious Isiah and Dolan will continue to view him as the key piece to build around. I guess all we can do is hope he comes into camp in top shape next year. (It's not the direction I'd go in as you guys know.)

yup. I think he will start playing defense next year. He will need to learn to foul less on defense but he will start contesting shots and closing the lane next year. Thats what I think.

I am pleased with Eddy's scoring this year, he's always had it in him, he's just never gotten the ball pounded to him like he is now, and he's converting. I really would like to see him pick up the defense and rebounding numbers though, because if he's going to be our franchise player(rightly or wrongly) he needs to do these things for the Knicks to be a successful team.

I can't make up my mind about this. Does he really need to be a rebounder? We are the best rebounding team in the league. If we can run Lee and Balkman out there next to Eddy everynight, we'll be in decent shape. I just hope to god he starts clogging lane. That would be the next thing he has to work on. Don't leave lanes open and put a hand in the cutter's face.

I don't think Eddie should lose 25 pounds. One of the main reasons he is able to dominate his opponents is because he has his pounds at a certain weight. If Eddie loses 25 pounds he might get thrown around like a rag doll in the post.

And why do we want him to lose so much weight anyway when Eddie is still able to blow by his skin in shape opponent?

I dunno if the weight loss will hurt his offensive dominance. He is strong which is very different from heavy and the dude has a huge frame. He'll be able to dominate minus 20 lbs but it will also help him move quicker to be a better help defender.

This is my problem though Silver. If Eddy is our franchise player, we shouldn't need to run guys like Balkman and Lee out there just to help Eddy. When they are both on the floor, they hurt us in the halfcourt part of the game because of their lack of offense. I am all for putting these types of players with Eddy, but you need to have a top guard to play with them also to pickup the scoring that these 2 wont provide. If Eddy would just do the things that a franchise frontcourt should do, then we don't have to find guys to replace what he doesn't do, which can strap a teams roster.

Franchise.. schmantize...

Patrick needed help from Oakley. Kareem needed Worthy. Chamberlain needed Lucious Jackson... and did not win a championship until he had him by his side.

Our big men are babies.

They are showing signs of development.

They can figure it out.
