If we follow the same trend we did after Marbury got injured last year and lose many games, then I say we blow this team up. Waives, trades, firings. Build the team through the draft i.e. Bulls and Cats. Trade Curry now that his value has skyrocketed. Only people I want to see remain is Balkman and Lee and continue to get players that play with their energy and have their work ethic. Let's be real the Knicks were not going to win the chip ANY year with this line-up. Let NY fans wait like NJ fans did and reap the benefits in the end.

2 things:

Fuck Suny albany.

And Dolan will never allow that.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Sure! And when the new team doesn't work we do it all over again? Sure' that will work!

Our biggest problem on the management side has been, since GM Dave left, has been quick, un-calculated moves. We might have had Big Ben, but we went right after J J and Curry. We might have had a chance at LeBron, but we already had guys like Marbury and Francis. We could be going for Gasol right now (something stinky onion has now expressed), but we have nothing to offer. I hope to god Zeke will hold off for the RIGHT deal, when these contracts start to die out. All of these quick fixes have been killing us now for about the last ten years or so. I don't want to dis our team too much, but we could have done much better. What's it going to take to just back off those bad deals, long enough to pick up some real free agent stars? Forget about the draft! We have to have one of the worst records to even qualify, let alone get the big pick. The Knicks have the opportunity to really make this team into a National champion, if they just wait' and play the cards right! Stop making deals, just to make deals. Look at what chicago has done and they are just a player of two away from threatening! They might end up getting Gasol, along with Big Ben? They build it one piece at a time. They built it on a couple of good draft picks and key acquisitions, refusing to sign rediculous contracts! Why can't we do that?
I'll never trust this' team again.

this makes moree sense than what isiah is doing. which is sort of a psuedo rebuild where the roster gets younger but lacks a franchise player, and instead depends on a 30 year old former all star point guard and a fringe all star center to be semi-competetive.

on a roster full of players who's weakness are all bascially the same. where the primary method used to improve the roster is through trading low draft picks, using high draft picks along with young players to acquire flawed available players, and the mid level exception.

The ultimate team is' to have a franchise player, then a team with a guard, who can not only contribute some points, but get a lot of assists. A shooting guard who can hit those clutch shots, a couple of forewards who can rebound, play defense and score some inside point. And a center, if he isn't a franchise player, who can at least play some big D and rebound big! A team that can score and play big D and rebound. Curry is a nice compliment to a would be franchise player. Lee is a great rebounding foreward, can score some points, if given the chance, but is questionable on the defensive side. Q is a legit three point threat and that's about it with this team. The rest are strong in one thing and lacking in another, but mainly the most important thing on any team. DEFENSE! Inconsistency really shows with the rest of these guys also. Q, Lee and Curry are the only ones who show any kind of onsistency. And we lack what we need to build around. A franchise player. So you see were we are at and how far we need to go to build a good solid team.

Curry has 21 points with 8:53 remaining in the first half.

It does. But he is still working to become a legit Franchise player.

No need to blow it up. I think Curry, Lee, Balkman, Q, and Marbury can be part of a championship team. Even Nate, if he matures, can be a good player. Crawford is good, but his poor decision-making will kill any team trying to make a championship run and Frye has offensive skill but his lack of mobility on defense will not work with Curry and Lee (Lee being an average defender and Curry being a poor defender). So you trade Crawford and Frye (both of whom have decent trade value) and try to package them with Jeffries to get his salary off the team. You bring in some pieces that fit better, like a two-way SG that can hit the 3, and a defensive-mind PF that can block some shots. We still have our 1st round draft pick and we can use the MLE to hopefully find a GOOD player next year. It is as simple as that. Let the young players mature and once Marbury and Francis are in the last year of their deals we can use their expiring contracts and 1 or 2 of the young bucks to bring in a franchise player. This team is really not that far away from being competitive.
