“If this becomes a rivalry, that’s good, because that means that we’ve gotten to the point where we’re looked at as a pretty good team,” Thomas said. “New Jersey is a pretty good team. But you can really only have a rivalry when you have two pretty good teams.”

He didn't choose his words wisely here that's for sure.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what he said. The Nets are better than us, have been to the finals twice, and have been atop the division for like the last 5-6 years.

Pissing in the wind my friend.

honestly i had much more of a problem with his ass-kissing of arenas before last game:

http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070117/SPORTS01/701170391/1108

there, he was making huge excuses for why arenas was going to score a lot, and trying to do everything he could to get on his good side so he doesn't make the knicks look bad. when we actually did contain gilbert, if i were a knick i'd be kind of pissed at the lack of faith IT had in my play.

this? at worst it's a slip of the tongue. our record is not "pretty good." at best we have a few players who are "pretty good" right now. we have a lot to prove before we deserve any respect as a team.

Every word that comes out of his mouth these days is an attempt to buy himself more time with the fans and media

i think he's challenging his team to step up & show him that they belong at the top of the Atlantic division... yeah, the entire division sucks at this point & i'm sure Isiah's well aware of that also... this is just a subtle mind game he's playing w/his own team... coaches like Pat Riley & Phil Jackson have done this for as long as i can remember.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

The fact that you love to microanalyze every mi-nute word that comes out Zekes mouth and twist them into some kind of negative is getting redundant.

That's not suprising because he did this before, telling fans in November before a game the team would stink at home. He started as far back as pre-season telling the fan base don't be suprised if this team is 5-6gms under .500 into December. I should dig those articles up but at the moment I'm too lazy. The dude is a joke. I thought it was comical in the article I linked he credits his team for locking up Gilbert so-to-speak, but voided the fact they let Caron Butler go off for practically a career night 27pts/5ast/10reb, all numbers above his season avg.

was just about to say that. this one is crazy. It's funny because the other day someone had a similar title attributed to Larry Brown about being too old to coach and got jumped on.

this is in that same category IMHO.

Yep he's speaking directly to Dolan through the media. No other coach in the league pulls this kind of charade.

When RJ said this, there was an uproar, now when Isiah says it, it's ok?

when you speak on other teams, it's an uproar, when you speak on your own team, it's not an uproar, and I'm still reading and rereading the quote where he admits we aren't good.

“If this becomes a rivalry, that’s good, because that means that we’ve gotten to the point where we’re looked at as a pretty good team,” Thomas said. “New Jersey is a pretty good team. But you can really only have a rivalry when you have two pretty good teams.”

Nope, still do not see it.

Yawn. Yes we all know Isiah talks funny to the press. This is the part where I say hes probably different behind closed doors. Honestly if your going to knock him, why dont you knock the coaching job he does. All these threads about how something he says is annoying. He can bend over, **** on a plate, and feed it to the press for all I care. What bothers me about him is the coaching decisions he makes. Seriously, who cares about what he says in the papers. Its a no win situation either way.

Double Standard as always. This was a poor choice of words no other way to look at it.

btw...I feel it's a rivalry. hence this being the biggest of the UK get togethers, me trying to forward my clock and setting my schedule around this game.

This one is HUGE...does that not a rivalry make?

and if so, then the knicks are pretty good and then isiah is actually saying the knicks are pretty good.

But, that's just my spin. what's yours?

If Isiah says "we are a good team" then there is a thread about how he is a moron. Isiah says "we arent a good team" then there is a thread about how he is a moron. He should just stand there and smile...actually then there would still be a thread about how he is a moron.
