Isiah Thomas, on an eight-player trade between Indiana and Golden State that featured Al Harrington, an Isiah favorite, said: "Clearly both teams thought they needed a change."

Asked if the trade could prompt more, with the East wide open, Thomas said, "I think there will be a lot of temptation when everyone is so close, bunched together, the natural competitive instinct is to do (something)."

Thomas is in a tough spot because he can't add significant payroll and won't trade his young guys, unless it's for a superstar.

Kevin Garnett qualifies. An unsubstantiated internet rumor about Garnett and the Knicks highlights a package of Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, Jamal Crawford and a 2008 first-round pick. However, a league official said the Knicks have been quiet on the trade front recently. . . . Jared Jeffries was booed in his Washington return each time he touched the ball. But he found his jumper, making three perimeter shots, finishing 3 of 5 for 6 points.

Of course we'd all love to get KG. For that package, it just seems like too little to be believable.

But to induldge, KG would be awesome. Curry, KG and Lee could play together, as KG is quick enough to play SF on most nights. Starting lineup:

Curry, Lee, KG, Q and Marbs as our starting 5. That's just dreaming, but a nice dream, nonetheless.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Perhaps make the draft pick unprotected completely...it worked out well for Chicago!

Only problem is, those players add up to about half of KG's 21 million.

And crawford is a terrible player for 90% of the game, McChale is the worst gm in the league i'll put him infront of isiah, how is he so dumb. The timberwolves had a very good shot to tank the season and retain their draft pick while getting the our pick, plus deng, and thomas.....

But the wolves would rather lose in the playoffs, if they make it to begin with then build a championship contender......

You have a young backcourt: Foye McCants
Two young players, one an all-star in waiting: Deng, and Thomas defensive specialist
Two lottery picks: A shot at Durant or Odom and another great talent.....

You know he might actually accept the knicks package after all

Sounds like that unsubstantiated internet rumor probably came off either the RealGM or MSG message boards.

Tha actually sounds like a believable rumour to me. That is alot of youth for Minny to start with.

I would actually consider that even though I would HATE to give up Crawford in the deal, but I don't see Channing and Nate as integral pieces on this team.

KG wants a ring. I don't think we're getting him.

there's no way MIN's roster can accomodate a 4 for 1 trade unless they're simply waiving or buying out some players to make room for the new additions... it's not a realistic scenario... any trade for KG will involve the contracts of Jaric, Hudson or Blount coming back as well... there really are no good matches w/the Knicks unfortunately.

numbers are way off. No way the team accepts Steve Francis back in a trade plus he's damaged goods. It's an article written so Dopes like us can talk about it because the Knicks are still irrelevant, nothing more. How many K.G. to N.Y. articles have been written the past 2yrs?

Depends. Jaric already asked for a trade and they are reportedly looking to buy out Griffin:

We also forget the most important factor. Knicks are working behind closed doors to buyout Francis. If this happens there goes any remote chance of landing K.G. Besides the wolves aren't playing that bad of basketball as of late, why should they trade K.G.?

Addition to my other post:

If they traded Jaric for say Dale Davis they can easily cut him as he has a very minor contract.

From Isola

There is still a possibility that Steve Francis will be bought out at some point. Francis has told people close to him that he and the Knicks have had preliminary discussions about a buyout but that the two sides can't agree on terms of a potential settlement. According to the Knicks, Francis remains in Houston on a rehab assignment.

Why is it hard to part with crawford he sucks.......

I would trade kg right to the bulls for thomas/deng and a draft pick, no reason to try to win a title right away...

And new yorks package sucks, you get three players that are to prone and can't defend anyone

who the hell said it would be hard to part w/Jamal if we could get KG? the problem is there isn't a fit that would interest the T Wolves here.

I'm not into trading away Fry, think he can be something special. Nate too. But, the idea of A starting lineup of Curry, KG, Lee, Q and Marbury... ummm I would say that could compete for a Championship. Could you imagine the spreads we could get on the floor when running our offense?

I did.

Does KG make us a title contender? I don't think so, IMO. I like Crawford's upside as a PG but if we are going to have to keep Marbs there, then I guess parting with him won't be too hard.

Side effect-What effect does trading Crawford have on Curry?

come on man, i'm the biggest Jamal supporter on this board, but even i'd drive him to MIN if we could get KG... the only players i don't wanna trade away in a KG deal are Curry & D Lee.

I like KG, but I still have to focus on the future. If KG meant anything real to this franchise fine, I just think we should stay the course and something better will come along.

I am only saying it because we have no PG if he leaves other than Steph(Does Franchise play back up?). I just think for a package like that, we can also possibly get a younger star who isn't in his prime currently.
