He is a added dimension we desparately need. He is a very smart player coming from a winning system who can be lights out from outside. He also is a good passer/ball handler with height who understands how to feed the post and spacing.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

don't have any pieces they would want or we are willing to give up.

they don't want quentin.
malik is probably too much money for the return in production.

one player i think they MAY have interest in but we would never do it is jamal.

He plays d as well as most our players. Dont under estimate bringing guys in from smart systems that know how to play. Popovich will not play anyone that doesnt d up so Barry has been playing d. He is a long 6-7 who has hops as well.

The Spurs feel like they are in a rut and will need a spark to win in the playoffs. They wont move any of their big 3 so Barry is the next in line. They almost traded him last season for Jr smith. The Spurs are looking to add youth and a live body.

so you are saying that Brent D's up, is a smart player, can shoot the deep ball, good ball handler, understands spacing... and yet the Spurs might be will to part with this guy?

why?

To be honest I think they are making a mistake. Pop is very worried that the team is over confident and complacent. He is worried that the players feel they can just turn it on whenever they want. They also would like to add some more youth and a spark. Barry isnt a perfect player but he fits them very well. They are hoping Bowen, Horry, Udrith and Finley can fill their need for the 3's and want somebody that attacks the hoop or is more of a slasher. Actually Beno is available as well. They are dumping these guys but if a deal is there they are available.

nice if we can pick him via FA to go into playoffs, he is whats needed, a bomber from down town. We can't send Malik, even though we don't see him on the court much doesn't mean he isn't doing the right things off the court (practice) I see him always coaching on sidelines during timeouts, I think thats where he will end up.

I like barry, give them Nate

I'd like Malik to stay as a coach. I like having guys that came from a winning system and understand what it takes to win. Same reason I would like to grab Barry. I would trade Nate for him.

I dont rip Isiah usually and you are right I hate trading youth for a vet but You are not taking in to account Nates behavior and if he will ever act like a professional.

So why would Greg Poppovich of all people want him?

He might take a chance but he would come down like a sack of bricks on Nate if he acted up just like he did with Ron Mercer

I don't see the Spurs taking a chance on a questionable attitude player, much less a questionable attitude PG when they already have a young PG in Beno Udrih.

You may be right about Nate because of the LB connection but the Spurs have taken chances on bad attitudes in teh past. they feel their nucleaus is so straight laced that the players will keep the newcomer in line. Pop isnt thrilled with Beno. He has been available for a year

Pop won't waste his time at all on headcases. The reason Jackie Butler has seen limited action is because Pop stated Jackie doesn't quite understand what it takes to play at a championship level. He did say he has the skills to do so. That IMO implies Jackie's IQ and mental toughness may not quite be there yet. It makes perfect sense why the Spurs want to let go of Barry. I think it has way more to do than just re-building. Pop is trying to match athleticism against the Mavericks(Josh Howard, Devin Harris, Stackhouse, Devean George) PHX(Barbosa, Bell, Marion) Denver(A.I., Melo, J.R.) Houston(T-Mac, Battier, Snyder, Alston). Barry could be matched on any of those players in a series and athletically those players are arguably better than him them if healthy. Pop is worried about the athleticism.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
