I know its easier said than done. But what combination of players would it take to get this kid on the Knicks? We've been discussing Ray Allen and Rahard Lewis alot on this board, but need interior defensive help if we are going to reach the next level.

I'm willing to part with any combination (that doesn't include Curry which is probably what it would take) to land Smith.

Frye
Nate and our first round pick this yr.

Lee (I know you guys are going to scream about moving Lee)
Nate and first rounder.

Or

Curry (dont really want to do this trade because I want Smith to play with Curry)
for
Smith
this yrs first round draft pick
and a player for a salary cap match.

Smith is exactly what we need right now. A frontline defender who can block shots, is a good help defender, can play multiple positions and is a great finisher with a developing Jay. Smith can be played with different combinations up front. He can play at SF, along with Lee and Curry. He can play him at PF with Jeffries and Curry. And I think his presence will make Jeffries an even better defender and would give us 2 legit frontline defenders.

he was a guy I harped a lot on this offseason and suggested a Nate + Frye trade for him. I pretty much got lamblasted.

What do you think of that trade now?

I certainly wasn't one of the guys who was critical of your trade proposal because I had a thread about Smith last yr as well.

Fish- unfortunately, I dont' know if Frye and Nate would get it done now where as it probably would have been enough last yr when Fryes stock was higher.

IFJOsh smith can keep guys like Derk Anderson and MattCarroll from dropping 52 combined, he is exactly what this team needs...

I think I might give up Frye and Nate for him. Not Lee tho. We def need some interior defense help tho. I think last night Curry played the worst game on the defensive end of his career. He wont cut it down the stretch.

Curry's D is like that everynight. Hate to tell ya

I wouldnt give them Lee either. We need rebounding as bad as we need defense.

If they wanted Mardy or Balkman I would do that as well. We simply have too many guys and not enough good ones.

Aften next season Josh is going to get paid, so a move where you give them 3 good young players like that might entice.

If it doesnt oh well. I would be more than happy with using Cato in bigger role off the bench as well.

I really think an 8 man rotation is critical for success

SL would be
Marbury
QRich
Josh Smith
Lee
Curry
with Craford, JJSKinny, Cato off the bench as your main 8 guys.

You're such a hater, why would you want to trade any of our players!!

Josh Smith is someone this team desperately needs and I hope all the Knick fans who were saying that shotblocking is overrated paid close attention last night because Emeka Okafor controlled the game with his shotblocking ability. Josh Smith, at this point, is a great shotblocker, a good rebounder, a good defensive player and has the ability to be a very good offensive player. His offense is average, he's got a ton of ability between his jumper and his athleticism and once he realizes his potential on the offensive end, he's going to be a lethal 2way player in this league. I'd trade whatever I had to, to get him on this team.

I think the Knicks should focus on the team at hand, and maybe a veteran frontcourt player who can compliment the team.

Smith is nice, but really there's no room for him

Curry never plays great D. But he isnt as bad as he was last night. His D was awful last night. Trult awful. I was sitting ten rows behind the Bobcats basket (2nd half). Countless plays when he just stood there and did nothing. He is directly responible for the Cats torching us on uncontested layup after uncontested layup. His 27/7 is decieving. That being said , he isnt always as bad as he was lat night. If he was we wouldnt have won a single game all season.

It's 1 game. This same Bobcat team beat the Pistons and Spurs. They have a ton of good talent and played well. We came out very flat for sure and did not play well. Anyone that has played a sport at a high level knows there are days you just dont have it and there are days you cant miss. Thats how a 1 win team beats a superbowl team.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

Thers's more than enough room for a shot-blocking, defensive minded athletic forward on this team. Keep in mind, someone has to be moved to get him. Its not like we will be signing him as a free agent.

If we really are turning the corner then we have to win gimme games at home. Our schedule is tough over the next few weeks. This was our chance to maake up some ground and we blew it.

That is true but we have been winning games at home. We are 5-1 in our last 6 at home. This team is turning the corner but that doesnt mean that there will not be any pot holes along the way. 36-42 wins would be a turning the corner season as low as we were. These guys have to learn to play together and for many teams that takes time. I think Isiah is partly to blame. He keeps screwing with lineups all the time like a kid on a video game. When Hubie coached us he was great because he made 2 units and those 5 guys often played together. So no adjustments were constantly needed. Just thowing Qrich, Dlee, Nate, and Jeffries in and out with no real consistency hurts the team.

I didn't see last nights game (yet) but when I do what I focus on Curry and Marbury. Curry is lost on D or he just doesn't know he is supposed to put in an effort, this is not a 1 game aberration. Guys that have season tickets have repeated the same thing you just did, and I am guessing that if you watch the game in person it is a LOT different than what we catch on TV.

whatever... bad to pathetic. He makes like 1-2 dramatic plays a game. The rest he plants his cement feet and just watches

As for room for Josh Smith I think he's got star potential and would trade all my kids for him (save Lee)

If Atlanta wanted Frye, Nate, Mardy and Balkman I would do it. He's the closest thing to Marion since Marion.

Knicks need a player w/ star potential. He's got it on both sides of the ball. With Smith and Lee as the forwards, Curry at center your looking great up front. JJSKinny and Cato can come off the bench.

I would def do that in a sec, maybe try to save balkman. Some changes def need to be made, at the very least to solidify a rotation.

the funny thing is that there are people here in Atlanta that would not mind seeing him go. Atlanta is as redundant as we are.. they have marvin williams, childress and Josh, all playing the same position. I would not mind having either one of the three... I would do the frye trade, simply because I think Frye would make the hawks a better and more balanced team, and josh would give us a shotblocker at the PF positon, he and lee would be a nice PF combo...

fish, I said this before a long time ago. I don't think josh smith has star potential, but he does have the potential to be a very good player. I watch him a lot, he still can't shoot off the dribble hasn't gotten an ounce better over 2 years at that, his handle is still suspect as is his shooting, but I agree, he does three things very well. Block shots, dunk and he is not a bad rebounder at all...
I would take him if we could get him for sure..
