In my opinion buying Francis out is a stupid move considering he has 3 years remaining on his contract. The very least I would received for him are both Mashburn and McCulloch contracts (dont know if those contracts can be traded). If the Sixers want him, to should pay him.

Oh, and I dont want Webber here now, although I have to admit 7 years before I really would have liked him to be in a Knicks uniform.

Yeah i dont really see a role for Webber on this team, unless he would accept being our backup center.

Curry/Frye/JJ with Webber and Lee picking up reserve minutes sounds good to me, but I really doubt Webber would accept such a limited role. As for the Francis buy out, I think at this point its time for Isiah to just man uo and admit he made a horrible trade, buy the guy out and proceed forward. It would have been nice if we could have kept Reezy tho, which would have made either the JJ signing or drafting Balkman (draftin Williams instead if we had Reezy and JJ) irrelevant.

if francis does sign with philly, than i have no doubtin my mind that brown was behind the ariza trade

its doesnt matter who was behind it, only who has the final authority to pull the trigger or kill it.

I agree. Even if Isiah was trying to salvage a season and a Coach, you dont trade for a 60 million dollar player to satisfy a 40 million dollar coach

.

Theres been some things about Zeke that Ive really loved, and theres been other things that you cant really defend. The Franny trade was one of them. Thats why I think its time for us to cut our losses and buy dude out.

That was my reaction too. Isiah was just getting the coach the players he wanted (although he should have realized not to listen to Larry by that point).

Why buyout, just trade them straight up for each other. NY gets the better because Webber has 1 less year on the contract. NY throws in JJ to make it even $$ wise....either one.

With the extra roster spot, IT works his magic and gets a NBDL big and SG.

Whos minutes does he get? Do you really want Webber sulking on the bench while he hogs Lee and Fryes minutes? The only way I trade for Webber is if they take Francis and Jerome. Then I probably buy out Webber.

There was never a doubt that Brown begged for Francis. His comments afer the trade support that thoery. Just like here, Francis really doesnt make sense for the sixers either. They need to continue to dump salary and focuse on their youth (Iggy, Carney, Korver etc). But when it comes to personel moves, not-making-sense and Brown go hand and hand. (and LOL at Brown having to bolt to the same places all over again)

The only way I'd want Webber is if he's playing behind Lee, and frankly I don't trust Isiah to do that.

if you could do a francis for webber deal- I think you would look to make a deal sending frye elsewhere for perhaps a good shooting guard or SF (dare we say Artest?)

Then, you can start webber, have him stretch the defense and pass out of the high post- let him play 28 mins a game and have lee come into the game for either curry or webber and play 35mins a game.

Webber has no lateral movement, but then no one here is impressed with Frye's D.

You get someone like an artest to bolster/balance out our back court/perimeter defense.

I don't see philly taking on Francis' extra year, though.

Webber is always hurt anyway.

As for trading Frye...I'm not there yet. I think Frye could learn from Webber's game.

This article makes my headspin, though I did suggest a few days ago to trade Francis for Webber b/c it'd be a net savings for us ( 1 less year). Though checking realGM this morning, it looks like we'd need to add another mid-level salary to Francis to make the trade happen.

Thing is you know LB and IT are probably not even talkign and there's no way they trade with each other, even if it would be mutually beneficial in this case (provided that Philly wants Francis and NY wants Webb).
