We had 9 blocked shots last night, 2 from Frye and 4 from Cato. Neither of them are true shotblockers, but they both had good nights and that turned out to be huge for us last night and could have been the deciding factor. Catos and Frye's defense last night helped spark us big and for some reason, we are overlooking that.

Hey Isiah, shotblocking IS NOT overrated! Can you just please get out of that mindset? Please? Pretty please?

I think that deal may be so simple that it's just way to complex for Isiah to even try. I'll drink to that anyway.

I would trade nate and frye for smith in all honesty if we are making a go with crawford we don't need nate, i would like something like a pick back. But Smith is so active around the basket and you could put him at the three next to jefferies/lee and curry and he could really help the defense.....

His game is only going to improve something i am not looking for from frye and robinson

OK, so the next quesion remains. Why would Atlanta do this?

i think Smith would solve alot of problems for this team & help to set & finalize the roles for the guys on this team.

C - Curry / Cato
PF - Lee / Jefferies / Malik
SF - Smith / Balkman
SG - Q Rich / Francis
PG - Marbury / Jamal / Collins
IA - BT

it's not likely, but if they're happy w/Marvin Williams at the SF, it would make Smith a trade chip to use to get themselves a post scorer & PG... i think Frye & Nate could help their team alot to be honest, but Smith has the bigger upside to become a star in this game because of his sheer athletic ability... it's not all that uneven a trade though imo.

Yea, Atlanta would really do well for itself if they talked to philly and took back millers contract and sent over their first round pick, and then did this deal with the knicks, they would make themselves playoff contenders and give them perhaps the strongest backcourt in the conference......

Miller/Claxton
Johnson/Nate
M. Williams/Childress
Sheldon Williams
Zaza/Channing

Or they can keep smith and just trade for miller and package a player, either way they are in a good position

Hmmm.....

Josh Smith for Nate and Frye.

I'd do it. Smith is in the same mold as AK47. He'll get you 13,8, 2 blocks, and a steal every game.

Problem is, why wouldn't Atlanta just start Smith at PF, with Williams at SF?

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Smith is a better athlete but AK47 is a MUCH better basketball player.

Frye is the shot blocker on the Knicks watch him and you will see that he is very capable of blocking 2-6 shot in a game.

I have preposed frye for smith on atlanta boards before they laugh at me i doubt adding our little firecracker would matter.

What about Jamal+Frye for Josh + Capfiller

trade Frye & Nate for Josh Smith.

That trade actually makes sense. Atlanta could use both Frye and Nate, although I'm not sure if they are ready to trade Josh Smith. This trade would allow the Hawks to shift Marvin Williams to SF and insert Frye at PF and keep Shelden Williams at C.

Nate
Joe Johnson
Marvin Williams
Frye
Shelden Williams

On the other hand for us, it brings us something we are sorely lacking and that's intimidation. We don't have one intimidater on this team defensively and Josh Smith is definitely that. While Josh is a very good defensive player, he also fills up the stat sheet. Imagine him starting at SF and Lee starting at PF, we would be cleaning up the boards night in and night out and Eddy would never have to seriously worry about rebounding and he can just score.

Like I said, I don't know if Atlanta is ready to do this but I think this trade would really clean up both teams but I'm not sure if Atlanta is ready to cut it with Josh, even if they are getting 2 young players in return in Frye and Nate.

because they already have Pachulia & Shelden Williams who are better suited for the PF position... Smith could probably play the 4 because of his athleticism, but he'd be mismatched vs. more physical PF's in the league... Frye could be their low post scoring option at the C position.

again, i don't think this trade is likely because if they trade Smith, it would probably be for a bonafide Allstar calibre player in a larger deal, but i just think value wise, it's a pretty even up deal... just my opinion.

I do not know for the life of me why you guys are aways creaming over a "Shot bocker" when Balkman, Frye and JJ2 will get blocks for this team. IF you believe the knicks won last because of the nine block shots they had, then that's fine. Personally I believe it was because of Utah not being able to hit any of the open shots they got and Balkman/Lee.

If this team can get a guy like ZO who absoultly controlls the paint and can completely shut down layups in the paint, that's fine. BUt most of this guys who get blocks in the league play on some of the worst defensive teams in the league and some of the easyest teams to score on. SHot bocking is very over rated.

Ya I don't see Atlanta spreading out the talent.

They're probly looking to consolidate it b/c after this summer they probly won't be hitting the lottery anymore. Joe Johnsons becoming a franchise player.

Pure PG
Joe Johnson
Williams
All-Star Pf
S. Williams/Zaza

Josh Smith + filler for a Randolph or Gasol is always realistic...
