I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

Ok, you voted 811 times. What's the point?

Nonsense aside I think the point is the silent majority see the progress.

How are they silent if they're voting and making their feelings heard?

i wonder when that poll was up. if it was after the boston game i would be shocked with the returns. if it was after last night, i'd have to ask if those signs were all in the ATL game or if people are really thinking on the whole season.

good find though.

there have been some very encouraging signs throughout the year, while the main dissapointment has been the play of Marbury, and the over inconsistancy of the team in general.

They are silent or at least not as loud as haters on mesageboards. They often choose not to bother. I wish I was that smart. :)

While I will not lower myself to personal insults like you do I will say you sound like most Islander fans.

Last year our point scored/points against differential was a minus 6.4

This year our point scored/points against differential was a minus 1.8

Our team is competing. Our team is not quiting. You have to admire that change.

we really need to stop using last year as a standard for anything. Raise your friggin standards. We can sign a team of 8th graders and that would have been an upgrade over last year.

Last year the players, starting with Marbury, quit. So don't compare anything to last year.

This team competes every now and then. Just look at the Boston game.

It'll be a cold day in hell when I admire someone for giving an honest effort at a job that they're being paid millions to do and not quitting.

Well if you take Curry out of the equation then absolutely not.

I'm an objective fan and I currently look at 2 things their quality of wins and their defense.

So far the Knicks have beat

Injury riddled Grizzlies 2times
Washington
Miami No Shaq
Cleveland No Hughes
Denver
Boston
Milwaukee
Atl

Very little quality wins so far. I'll give the team victories over Clev, Den, and maybe Washington as legit although very suspect. The other vistories aren't quality wins whatsoever. Since I picked this team to win 9gms of their first 25 before the season started IMO they are the exact same as last yr.

Out of 24gms so far they have allowed 100pts or more 17times

Really, I am not as concerned with the first month and a half. i expected the team to have somewhat of a slow start. The true test is what this team does in January and February now that it is somewhat healthy (once Frye gets back) and everyone has an understanding of their roles. The poll reflects that people at least see the potential for improvement and that the players are playing harder and more as a team. Plus, Curry's development, if it continues, is huge for this franchise.
Trust the Process

What I've learned

2005/06-Do not try
2006/07-Try and be applauded for trying.

It really depends on what time fram we are are lookign for progress from.

From last year-Last year the team gave no effort. If there wasn't evident progress from that, than I would wonder why we really assembled here. So obviously we have shown great progress from last year. Tremendous progress. But I can't give them credit for this. They are just doing a little bit more of what should have been a given.

If I'm talking about from the beginning of this season up until now I would say we've had some individual progress. We've seen progress in terms of team attitude. We've seen great progress in terms of understanding what needs to be done as a team, accepting this and proceeding with the coach's plan. The results have not been there as a team so I can't say I've seen major progress overall. But there are signs that improvement can be made. There are also signs that the team could implode as well.

If we are using 2003 as a time frame I would say we've made progress if progress means we got younger. No progress if it means we got better. I think with the right leadership we can ultimately see major progress.

Here are my thoughts:

Curry is finally rounding into better shape with potential to show real progress.
Lee has a better FT %
QRich got healthy
Francis - same as ever
JJ - OK signing.
Balkman - Good draft pick.
The Knicks compete in about 1 and a half quarters a game, and the record shows it.

More:
Nate is still in highlight mode every once in a while.
Crawford has regressed back to a wild jumpshooter.
Marbury still doesn't get it.
Big Game has shown nil.
Jalen, MoT buyouts show me the organization still doesn't get it.
Frye was pressing when he played.

Overall, I don't count that as progress.

martin, i actually think those 2 decisions showed me that they finally DO get it... no more taking on longterm salaries... try to get a hold on the salary cap going forward, & build up with youth... seems like that's what most of us have been wanting for the past several years.
