Is Eddy Curry's scoring enough for you?

In the wake of all the threads that have been created recently about Eddy's scoring(which has been fantastic of late) is it enough for you that he scores points but doesn't do other things that centers are supposed to do? Things such as rebound, block shots, provide man to man defense as well as help defense, which is absolutely killing the Knicks. Although Eddy is scoring a ton of points, his presence on the court seems to be nullified because of his poor defensive habits and lack of effort on the defensive end. This is not a poll to bring down Eddy Curry, I'm just curious of the results, since it has been a hot topic on this forum lately and it's been widely debated by all who have participated.
Eddy's scoring is enough for me and his defense does not worry me
I don't care how many points Eddy scores, if he's not playing defense it's worthless
Who cares we're still losing games

Myself- I voted for option 2. I just feel Eddy's presence on the offensive end of the court means absolutely nothing because of all the points he gives up on the defensive end. I sincerely hope and want him to correct these problems because if he does, the Knicks will be a much better team but so far through his career, I haven't seen him trying to fix these problems and that he's more concerned with offense. Just my opinion.

bro, this is a pretty pointless question... anyone here who says they don't care if Eddy improves in other areas other than scoring is kidding themselves... but that's not to say that people can't be happy w/slow progress, as long as there IS progress... we've seen Eddy be dominant in the low post, & he sometimes on rare occasions puts up double digits in rebounds... i'm happy w/that for now until he learns more of the nuances of playing his position, like passing out of the low post & playing help D.

It's not pointless. If you've been following the discussions about Eddy Curry, many posters are settling for what he's doing on offense and not really caring about what he's done(or not doing) defensively. Most are just focusing on what he's doing well and ignoring what he's been doing bad.

Nice loaded question. Way to stack a poll. No player is perfect on defense. Saying you want him to play better on defense is fine but saying he plays no defense is a joke. His defense is usually just as good as any of our other bigs.
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

But none of our other bigs play good defense...

How is it loaded? Tell me which part of what I said is not true

Besides, thats why it's a poll, so you can state your own opinion. I gave mine.

Uhhh, "Eddy's scoring is enough for me and his defense does not worry me."

How is that negative? That option is saying you have no qualms with what he's bringing defensively.

You guys are so freaking sensitive to anything that isn't a glowing remark about any of the players on this team.

Good poll! I voted option 2 but gave some thought to option 3.

So did I Bonn. The breaking point for me was the fact that the Knicks probably aren't going anywhere this year anyway and if they want to go anywhere in the future, it's on Curry's shoulders.

i've been following along & i'm not trying to put u down in anyway just so i get that straight... just don't think anyone here is saying they're happy w/Eddy playing bad defense & not rebounding consistently, that's all... what those of us are saying who are supporting him is that he's shown some improvement on his game from last year, & we like that... doesn't mean we don't want him to improve on those other areas as well (don't mean to speak for anyone else, but i'm pretty sure everyone on this forum wants to see Eddy become an all around C someday... some just expect it to happen sooner than others)

the better question should be, is his OFFENSE enough.

once he learns how to pass out of the double team, i dont give a **** what he does on defense b/c he'll be anchoring our offense.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I don't see what's wrong with the poll. Nothing he said was untrue, and based on other posts in the forum, it's a valid question.

Eddy is awful on defense. .37 blocks, .32 steals, 3.11 TOs, 0.5 asts, and 6.7 rebs in 31.4 mpg brings lame to a new level. I can't find any other centers with worse production in blocks, and steals and I'd be hard pressed to find one who gets so few assists.

Bottom line is Eddy's offense is nice. But that's all he has. How disappointing.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

After thinking about it for some time I have to say that eventhough this is his 6th season, I am estatic that he is finally showing offensive
consistency. I never thought he would after how bad he looked last season and how out of shape he was. So now that he has improved offensively I think it is very possible for him to improve defensively. Maybe even start blocking shots one day if he ever gets in real shape. He is only 23. His offense is better, he is starting to rebound better although he's not consistent in boxing out yet. Not many 23yr olds dominate in every aspect of the game. Guys like Amare, Bosh, Howard still have room to grow.

So all in all I am pretty happy with the way Isiah is coaching this team. I just pray to god that we get rid of Francis soon. As a GM I think Isiah has learned from his mistakes of throwing away picks which is his strength and overpaying for bums like Taylor/James

Sugar. Nothing was changed, if I wanted to change anything, I'd have to make a new thread because the poll wouldn't be deleted and you can't edit poll selection after you've made one.

how about putting an option that says "Eddy's offensive improvement this year is a good sign, hopefully he develops the other areas of his game in the coming years"... then i can vote on your poll too.

exactly!! this is ridiculous. Who in their right mind will say they don't want Eddy to play defense at all? Everyone here is saying that he will improve and will show steady improvement. Some people are like anchors on foxnews. Fair and balanced? I'm going to wait for an option liked you said before I vote.
