Fans booed the Packers (4-8) several times during the first half and loudly as they jogged to the tunnel at halftime.

"I'd be booing too," McCarthy said. "Shoot, they should boo us. I've got no problem with that. This is a man's league, a man's business and a man's game."

whoops, I went to delete a dup post and might have screwed things up. FROM crzymdups:
are the packers 4-4 on the road and 0-4 at home? no, it's a different situation. I'm not saying fans aren't allowed to boo, of course they are. I'm just saying THIS Knicks team is clearly an example of the team not being comfortable at home and the fans aren't helping.

hey, I just thought ny fans were supposed to be so smart that they'd realize that the booing was hurting the team's chances, even if throwing a temper tantrum did make them feel better. I don't understand this at all - "I paid, I'm allowed to boo." didn't you pay to see the Knicks WIN? if you cheered them at least in the beginning of the game, maybe it'd help. maybe it wouldn't. but 11-0 run at home with the crowd booing/murmuring/sighing/weeping/whining.

why does the team have to be manly but the fans get to be petulant little children? cuz they paid?

again, I'm not saying it's the only reason, but there IS a pattern here: beat the Cavs on the road, lost at home, beat Boston on the road, lost at home, played the Spurs, Rockets and Bulls among others better on the road than at home. I just don't understand why fans would pay money if they are more interested in grandstanding than rooting for the team to win. especially when they're "the most sophisticated fans in the world." if you want to boo the team at the game - last laugh's on you - Dolan is still getting your money - LOL!

someone else here said this, but the most damning thing to Dolan would be the echoes of an empty Garden. that's more effective than booing. so yeah, booing makes no sense whatsoever to me.

thanks, martin, I was trying to delete my own dupe post. anyway, that's my rant on the subject. I think fans can boo, but I think this whole thing is getting a little silly. if fans want to boo so badly, the way to really hurt the Garden is not to go.

I think the point that Briggs was making was the attitude the Packers players had about the booing, not if it helped the team or not.

Exactly. these guys get paid MILLIONS of dollars to play. Thats it. End of Story--this is a business--anything else is BS. DJ is ABSOLUTELY right---Knicks FANS do NOT want to BOO --youthink fans pay tens-of thousands of dollars to boo? The problem is, the people criticzing the fans either get paid BY the fans or don't pay for the very expensive tickets. It's not the Knick fans fault that the team hasn't been able to step up at home and they have let them know about it. If we don't have the players who can taking some booing--maybe we don't have mentally tough enough players and coaches. Personally--I think it's a real sign of weakness and other teams will jump on the the Knicks knowing the players get rattled if their play is poor. For some posters to get on the fans is absurd at a minimum--go pay for thousands in tickets and get crp results night after night.

"I can't be mad at them for me playing like garbage," Marbury said. "Was I surprised [to hear the boos]? They came here to see us win. They didn't come to see us lose. I knew I was going to get it. I had a bad game."

sounds pretty close.

oh, without the manly stuff though.

Marbury along with Herb Williams are the two guys who will say nothing about fans booing.

I don't think it's about booing per se so much as the tolerance level the fans have for the booing. The Knicks have been booed just about every home game this season, starting from the very first game. It's just created a toxic environment to play in. And it's not something limited to when the fans actually do boo-- think about going into a home game *expecting* to be booed at some point. It's different than just getting booed when you're getting blown out. Hey, I thought the crowd was alright for Toronto, but even then I heard a smattering of boos after the Knicks botched the first two possessions of the game, which gives you an idea of where the situation is at.

unfortunately, I think the tolerance level has been established more by the organization than the players. It's been years of frustration and "promises" made by Isiah and MSG. Unfulfilled promises lead to frustration and a shorter leash. That's the nature of it. If the players would put out max effort and cut down on the mistakes that shouldn't be there, the fans wouldn't boo.

I think the fans should at least stop the booing in the first 5 minutes of games. The fact that it happens just means that fans are coming into the Garden with a negative energy. The players can sense that and it has an effect. That being said, it is up to the players to overcome this bump in the road and win back the fans at the Garden. Tonight is the perfect opportunity to destroy a team at home and get the crowd to start believing again.

Exactly. What kind of atmosphere is that to play in??? I know the players will work threw this, because we have so many home games in a row against bad teams, but it doesn't make it right. ANd you know if this team lets say they win out or go 4-2 on the home stand, the next time they come back home and have a bad quarter, the booing is going to be there. Sad really.

None of the players on the Knicks have complained about the booing. Its fans like me that say it often goes over the line. I mean for ,,,, sakes they booed Marbury like 49 seconds in to the last game. I dont even like Marbury but that was ridiculous
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg
