If you could believe it, even after being 5-10 we are only 1 game out of first. Of course there is a 3 way tie for 1st with the Celts, Nets & Sixers all at 5-8, and the Raps are 4-9, but if the Knicks can find an ounce of consistency here then maybe we could actually make the playoffs.

However, the East is playing so awful-mediocre, outside of Detroit and the Cavs, that it can't mean much, yet if you look at the Knicks compared to the rest of the conference, we have a chance.

I know it's just a barrel of negativity being a Knick fan these days, but how odd would it be if the team makes the playoffs despite the inconsistent play. If we could only kill off all of the boo birds at MSG then the Knicks could win at home!

It's all your fault!

haha...i hope you all know I'm just kidding

36/37 wins may be good enough to make the playoffs in the east.

How pathetic. The East is so bad that the first place teams are below .500.

Just a side point.

The Celtics went to the playoffs during the 03-04 season with a 36-46 record. What have the Celtics done since and where are they going? Get the drift?

Jordan's Bulls also made the playoffs when they were about 20 games under .500 one year. I think playoff experience would be great for the rookies and sophomores.

Based on current winning percentages, it would take a 32-50 finish in the East to advance to the postseason.

Considering how low the ceiling is in the Eastern Conference, only three of the East's 15 teams -- Orlando, Cleveland and Detroit -- sport winning records.

Scary thought IMHO, but having low expectations is the norm and I'm of the norm.
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

the playoffs would be nice, but if i had a choice i think i'd rather have the lottery pick... of course, that would entail the Bulls finishing w/a worse record than we do.

LOL yeah if it didn't consist of a $100mil+ payroll. The Knicks made the playoffs in 03-04 with 39wins I believe Sweets and Frank were rookies. What have the Knicks done since and where are they going and what good did it do for Sweets and Frank Williams when they were rookies?

Slavko Vranes, Majcie Lampe were rookies also

Not sure what payroll has much to do with being a playoff team, other than limiting the team's options in the off-season and makes people think they are worth the money they are paid (which we all know isn't the case for many Knicks on payroll, some whom aren't even on the team anymore), but the rookies and 2nd year players are CLEARLY better than Sweets, Williams, Vranes and Lampe. C'mon man, you know that by now. So it would be worthless for Lee, Frye, Nate & Balkman, and maybe Eddy to get some (more) playoff experience?

I think the bigger concern for the UK Mafia is that if the Knicks make they playoffs that that is a greater indication of Isiah staying around for another year, which I figure will cause booing to come at tipoff instead of after the first run by the other team, or a few missing posters due to suicide or jailtime for a killing spree (or the assassination of Isiah).

Nets fans must be booing them something fierce.

That's only in comparison to their pathetic neighbors in NY.

Nets fans...

I'm sorry, who? You mean all of those empty seats at the Meadowlands?
They sure make a lot of noise when the team wins though, a real example of how to be supportive of your team.

Yeah, Red Sox fans living in NY are downright scum.

Oh so in order to be a good fan you have to show up and keep your mouth shut while dishing out major dinero, watching a horror show on the floor.

No, but the Nets are not exaclty known for their multitude of loyal fans. We have that at least. I give up on the booing thing, but I am not the kind of person who does, and I find it to be counterproductive overall. That's my view, but I don't expect you to agree or respect it.
