Frye was 6-6 in the low post against KG! He should have gotten at least ten more shots. I don't know what people are watching when they say Frye is just a perimeter shooter.

thank you- and if our guards could make an entry pass into the post, things might be better all around.

from an unbiased source:

"And on the other side of the paint, KG was giving Channing Frye the deep-tissue massage (credit our intern Christian for that one). Garnett had a modest 19 points, but if you saw the game, you saw he was simply working Frye whenever he wanted "

Yeah but Garnet destroyed frye early and thats where a lot of the big lead came from
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

There's no doubt that KG outplayed Frye and is the better player. My only points are that Frye needs to get the ball a lot more in the low post and that claims that he's just a perimeter shooter are way off the mark.

I think Fish is right that Frye's feet are too slow to gaurd most PFs. I think many of them can't gaurd him in the low post either (if we just get him the ball), but his feet wouldn't be such a liability if he played C. Just bench Eddy!

Even Aguire said last night that Frye just prefers to be outside. He is a guy who models his game after Rasheed Wallace.

Is Frye the better center? I haven't seen enough games to say. As bad as Eddy Curry has been playing there is that immeasurable part of his game, he is big. At least against certain lineups Frye might be the better choice. Man, would it not be nice to see this lineup, just for 10 minutes:
Collins, Jefferies, Q, Lee, Frye
It might be enough offense, but playing smart might get us more with less, looking at last nights game.

That's the whole thing that was getting us angry earlier. WE KNOW he has some low post skills, and for the first few games, all he was doing was jacking up the long distance shots. I missed the game last night,(I'll watch the replay though) but I don't doubt Frye had some low post moves, but I find it harder to believe that Garnett couldn't stop him. 6-6 is nice, but I'd like to see the game.

Currys confidence is shot. He is afraid to play hard for risk of fouls. Although I thought he did better in last nights 2nd half. In fact when Frye got destroyed by KG Isiah put Curry on KG and I think Curry played some decent defense on KG. Curry was almost invisable in the first half but seemed like the old Curry in the second half. I think he had like 12pts-6 rebs in the 2nd half. One play stood out. Francis drove the lane. He had a wide open Curry 1 foot from the hoop for an open dunk. Instead Francis attacked the defender for his own shot. Francis did make a difficult shot but even Clyde said Francis had Curry wide open for a dunk. Our guards just do not distribute the ball well or enough. They will make it hard for Curry or Frye to stay consistent even if the 2 bigs are willing. I would like to see Lee get more touches as well.

I laughed at this thread a bit. Frye fouled out with 7 minutes to go in the fourth quarter and Garnett barely played in the 2nd quarter and sat the entire 4th quarter.

Guys what are you talking about?
Garnet IS THE GAME.
It is silly to compare Frye to him and it is not fair.
It was no use for Garnet sklls yesterday. He is not playing street ball - he is elite NBA player.

As per Frye and Curry development as a players they need a coach who can teach them to play and PG who can make them involved in the game. Regardless of their talent and desire without this 2 things they are poised to suck...

Curry hasn't done well with any coach in his five plus seasons though. No coach is gonna make him start taking his conditioning seriously.

Until Frye goes to the low post consistently he'll be just a perimeter shooter. Its not way off the mark. Its kinda like the knock people had against Ewing being a great jump shooter.

KJ kill French Fryes. He abused Frye in the post, off the dribble, jumpshooting, rebounding, getting steals. We got blown out early. You can't look at a boxscore to tell how well a player played without looking at the game.

I think really the whole point of this thread not to compare the two or even give credit to Frye for having a good game. (because he didn't) The bottom line is Frye has some REALLY nice moves in the post against one of the better defenders at the PF position. KG was visible frustrated. (I was at the game) Hopefully he can build off this. You'd think it would be a major confidence boost.

KG abuses ALL NBA PFs, that's what he does, you have to make him work on defence which Frye was doing a pretty decent job wheneverthe****ing PG wannabees got him the ball.
