KMart is done for the year so insurance will kick in as he played < than 10% of the games. Also there's a very realistic chance he retires and comes off the books.

Denver has the kind of players Curry needs to succeed.

We get pick(s) and closer to rebuilding. I think we get much better also defensively and on the boards which is where we get killed every first qtr.

Marbury
Francis
QRich
Reggie the ball grabber
Frye
With Nate/Balk/Lee as the bench.

I would be okay with this, except for the length of K-Mart's contract. His contract runs two years too long. We're taking a big risk that he might not retire, and instead, will count against the cap until after '10/'11. For that reason, I say no. If KMart's deal ends after '08/'09, I say yes in a heartbeat.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

he's probably going to retire. Which means his contract would come off the books before Franbury. It doesnt count against your cap or luxury tax, so assuming he did retire it would actually save us money

Fishmike, assumption is the mother of all f**k ups and that's not a risk I'm willing to take. I would love Reggie Evans just as much as you, but with someone like KMart, I'd find it hard to believe he wouldn't attempt to make a comeback. The Knicks have taken just too many risks and made even more assumptions that have all blown up in their face, and this adds to it. It's not about "We're due." It's more about "We're not learning from our mistakes."

me too, but Kmart aint retiring bro. Its a bad plan to think you can force someone to retire, he definitely has not indicated he wants to, hes still only 29 and probably still thinks he can play. If youre gonna make this trade, you make it and say that you're gonna eat his contract for the 2 picks and the hopes that he can contribute down the line. Its still better for us to have him than to have Francis. But you can't delude yourself into thinking anything else.

Can I ask what is the love affair with Reggie Evans?? The stinks in every aspec of his game other then grabbing rebounds. Which if you block out the few big games he had last year, the guy only gets 7 a game for his career.

if you dont think rebounding and defense is important than I know you are a TRUE Knick fan

Its not just that I like Reggie. What I really like is that Reggie is cheap and what he does playing next to Frye. I think to get the most out of a guy like Frye (or Curry) you need a guy like Reggie to do the dirty work and he will certainly do that. Reggie is a premier rebounder.

I've been harping on two themes for some time.

1) Frye and Curry wont work together
2) get them a complimentary frontcourt player

No, not rebounding and Defense in reguards to Reggie Evans, it's just REBOUNDING. Im really trying to figure out how Defense and reggie got linked up. The guy stinks at every thing othen rebounding. I would never want him, especially when David Lee is rebounding better then him all ready and is play good D this season.

he's having surgery on his good knee now. At some point quality of life is going to come into it. I understand the pain of no longer being able to play. I deal with knee pain myself. Its year round now also, not just during the season. I cant take my kids to the zoo for a day without having to ice.

I have zero doubt of KMart's dedication, but there comes a time. Obviously you need to gauge where he's at before you do this. Its his contract we want, not the player.

I don't think we need Reggie with Q and Lee controlling the boards. You can never have too much rebounding, but I don't like the thought of adding K-Mart. If Denver's throwing in draft picks, I'd do the deal, but I doubt they'd do that. If they think K-Mart is going to retire, then they're not desperate to trade him.

Denver has a window. They cant win without a scoring presence in the post. Nene/Camby are solid defenders and rebounders but neither score with their back to the basket. Both would compliment Curry however, quite nicely. They arent adding $$$ as KMart is accounted for.

Melo is younh enough to build around. Maybe they go the other way and package those picks, Camby cap fodder for Garnett. Who knows.

I am just trying to imagine Curry in that thin Denver air, sucking wind after just one lap on the court. That heart will take a beating!

So they're essentially giving up 2 1st rd picks just to get fat Eddy? NO gm would ever do that!

At this point in time the knicks are NOT going to trade for the future. 3 reasons--1) Isiah is not going to admit hes wrong about the players he traded for. 2)They do want to finish better than chicago so we can keep our pick 3) If they start dumping players they show NO significant improvement and Isiah is basically firing himself which makes NO sense.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Isiah contract expires before the year is over... on Dec 21 I believe. Do you think they give him an extension? Do you think that he finishes the year?
