Webber Wants Out Of Philly

16th November, 2006 - 5:05 pm

Sacramento Bee -

Chris Webber does not want to be a near irrelavent component of the 76ers and if that is what the team intends for him, he wants to be dealt. He has talked to the club's management about the issue.

"I'm not going to keep playing like this," Webber said after scoring six points in 23 minutes in Philadelphia's 96-90 victory Wednesday night in Seattle.

"I don't like this role," he said. "So, you can take that however you want." [READ]

What about Francis for Webber? I think CW makes 20mil... and steve about 15... so you'd need to fill somethin in.. Next year you could do Steph for Cweb straight up...

Now i dont think Chris is the answer for this team long term.. BUT-

He'd cut some years off of either steph/steve's contracts.. he expires in a few years...

any thoughts??

What about Francis+Curry for Webber and their #1 pick.. i'd do that in a second...

Francis & Malik for CWebb works... but i don't think Philly does it... why would they take on an extra year of a maxed out contract? they mine as well buy him out.

Francis + Curry for Webber + #1 pick

Frye/Cato/James
Webber/Lee/Malik
Q/Jeffries/Balk
Jamal/Nate/Q
Stephon/Nate/Collins

I think it really evens out this team.... Webber is about equal to Curry on defense.. But at least he rebounds.... He scores equally as effective if not more so... and he comes off the books... We get rid of our lazy fat center.. and unclog our backcourt, unloading tuns of salary and aquiring a #1 pick in the process... The 6ers could be bad so that would be great...

I doubt Philly does it.. but thats what i'd try to offer if i was Isiah...

I'd dumped Marbs on them then cut Cwebb this year or next year
Thats 1 year we knocked off our cap. Francis would be next up

In a heartbeat to get rid of francis and curry i don't need a number one pick i just want curry off the team....

webber can't move but he can pass and shoot and do everything a center should do.

Webber/James
Lee/Frye
JJ/Balkman
Q/Crawford
Marbury/Nate

Where do I sign to the second round of the playoffs.......

I have a feeling the Sixers would want youth in return for Webber since Iverson probably won't be there much longer himself.

Therefore, it ain't gonna happen for us if it means giving up one of our younger players.

I'd do anything possible to get rid of either Marbury or Francis and if it means bringing in someone like CWebb than so be it. Webbers deal ends after next year, so it would definitely cut some of the years off of either Stephs or Stevies deal.

What about Stephon, Malik, Channing for CWebb, Dalembert

you want a trade to clear up cap space?

Curry, Jamal & Big Turd for CWebb would clear up $24 million in cap space after next season.

of course, Isiah would never make a trade like this because he believes in his acquisitions & would never want to admit to having made a mistake in acquiring them in the first place... but wow, the Knicks would be just about at the cap threshold after next season if they made that trade... if you want to set up your franchise to make a serious run at Lebron or Wade in '08/'09, this is a trade that might make alot of sense.

of course, for 2 years we'd be the laughing stock of the NBA again w/Marbury, Francis & CWebb all on the same roster, but that's not something we're not used to by now.

Either Marbury or Francis need to be traded to Philly for Webber.
The Knicks need to clear up the glut in their backcourt and it's clear that Nate & Crawford are the future. Webber's passing skills would be beneficial to our team.

Once Jefferies gets back they could start Q-Rich at the 2.

Pg: Marbury or Francis, Crawford, Collins
Sg: Q-Rich, Nate
Sf: Jefferies, Balkman
Pf: Webber, Lee
C: Curry, Frye, James/Cato

forget about trading either of those guys for CWebb cuz Philly already has a guy by the name of Allen Iverson who's twice as good as both of them... not to mention both of them are signed to an extra year of max salary.

the only reason to trade for Cwebb is to dump Marburys contract. This is quite possibly the only way to get rid of him and his 20 mill a year. We lose nothing. We gain 1 year closerto the cap. Trading Francis would be the next move. His deal will be slightly easier to move

Elite has the right idea. Any trade from now on should be with the idea that we rid ourselves of at least one contract that runs past 08/09. I'm not sure Curry is the contract we want to rid ourselves of, but we do need to entice the other team also.

The idea is to be max contract dollars under the cap for LeBron/Wade offseason part deux, as well as maintaining a solid core that would entice one of those players enough to come here.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I wouldn't mind seeing CWebb here...

a trade of CWebb for Francis and Frye would be beautiful. Philly would have to throw in a 1st round draft pick.

I don't see this happening tho because I think Philly will recognize that they will have the same problem we're having in the back court with shoot first guards....

Why trade any of our youth? I'd prefer a straight salary dump

Thats fine. Even better would be to dump the Marbury deal. I think the Marbury deal because of his baggage and higher salary is near impossible to move so I'd prefer to move that one. I think we could move Francis deal elsewhere

Heres my trade idea... By the way, didn't Isiah entertain the thought of trading for Webber when Sacramento had him on the block?

Successful Scenario

Marbury/Frye/Malik for Webber/Dalembert/#1

I like this trade. Dalembert is the kind of player that Eddy Curry needs to have, play next to him because Dalemebert does all the things Curry doesn't do. This would trade would give us a pretty ferocious front-line. Finally, like it or not, at this point we have to think of ways that will make Eddy Curry better because we are stuck with him for the next 5 years and we have to maximize his abilities by surrounding him with guys that will allow him to do that.
