Hey Guys -

I am passing on my chance to see Lebron play on ESPN 2 tonight because the law firm I work at is having its christmas party - so I am going for the free food + drinks over seeing the future stud of the NBA play. I would appreciate it if someone could watch and do a little write up of what they see. I wanna know what everyone thinks. Thanks.

Easy one, Lebron - we have the rest of the season to watch the MSGarbage bunch take the floor.

From the parts of the game, here's what I compiled:
-Great passer. Good court vision and a bit flashy like Magic was.
-Can slam just like MJ and Kobe and all the rest.
-Streaky shooter, will probably improve over time since no HSers have good Js.
-Pretty good defensively, made some nice steals.
-Rebounds well and played in the post a lot.

The sky's the limit, everyone was right.

Put it this way he wouyld be the best Knick if we were lucky enough to draft him BY FAR. He is an all around player with great size and explosion. He is so physically big now I dont know of any sf or SG he couldnt physically take to the whole every time and dunk on. If he couldnt dunk around him he would dunk over him. If you are open he will find you any where on the court. and chip in 12 rebounds a game from him. hes quick to the ball roams on d and gets back to his man. showed flashes of a nice jumper--as I said on another board he is 5 times better than houston and 10 times better than sprewell right now in all around game. he is much bigger physically than either of them much more explosive and can handle and pass much better. he can also no doubt play PG for parts of a game

Simply put if the Knicks got him in the draft they would be competing for a championship as soon as he put on the Knick uniform. His passing skills are better than some point guards in the league. His court vision is very good he will find the open man just like Kidd finds the open man. His shooting will get better from the field and the line with time. When they say he is a can't miss they were right this kid is a can't miss. The one thing that impressed me was his passing skills and his trust in his teammates you can't teach that.

i don't know about that.......competing for a title the day we draft him? ahhh.....no. however, this boy can play! he is a badass for sure. very complete game, worth all the hype. whoever gets him will be well on thier way, he is going to be a superstar. he has the body of an nba player at 25, imagine what he will develop into. he may get another inch or two and will continue to put on muscle. if everything falls into place, this young cat will be very very special in the league for a long time. after watching him play last night, i am pulling for the knicks to lose the rest of thier games........I WANT LEBRON!

First, the kid's got it, no doubt. That's great.

But, was Jordan the best player in the league his rookie season? No
Magic? No
Bird? no
Shaq? no

If LeBron stays healthy, he could be the league superstar, but to say he would automatically make the Knicks a championship contender is a bit much. Magic Johnson had Kareem and Worthy and a great coach. If LeBron were a Knick, he'd have much less around him, and a coach that is less than impressive.

One star, two good players and a bunch of scrubs does not a team make. Give the kid a break. People expect too much of him too soon. He'll get there, but don't be too shocked if he hits the wall at first, given that NBA players are far taller, faster and stronger than high school, college, or international professional players.

Now, we all know Kwame Brown was not as hyped as Lebron. But Jordan picked him with number 1, he's struggled, and everyone's calling him a bust. He's only what, 19 or 20? Sheesh. Instant Gratification Syndrome is such a disease in this country, it's becoming ridiculous.

I believe Lebron is an amazing talent, but its going to take a few more pieces to get this team to the finals - and to be competitive in them. First of all, Vujanic needs to pan out. I see Lebron playing the SF or the SG more then the PG - although he is a great passer, his body is too big for that position. We will also need someone to replace KT at the 5 - he will be a great 6th man behind a healthy Dyess but shouldnt be our starting 5, I would even condier trading him or Spree to get another pick in this draft or to grab a decent big man. Get a solid 5, a healthy Dyess, Lebron, Houston, Vujonic, and I see this team going to the finals and being competitive in them in 2-3 years. Thats my recipe for success if we win him.

Oh yeah one more thing, we will need a new coach who can teach and will get this system going. I heard Phil Jackson is unhappy in Lakerland, maybe he would like to teach Lebron in NY someday

Daaaaamn!!This kid will be amazing,he is amazing. That dunk
he had in the first half was almost horizontal! What struck me
most like alot of you was the passing, for a 17 year old to have that kind of court vision, who takes just as much pride in his passing as his windmill dunks is great. Most kids at 17 just want to be the
high scorer before everything.Having him as a Knick wouldnt make
us instant contenders but a few years of him developing his already
stellar game and getting rid of dead weight would make it all worth it.

James will no doubt in my mind make the Knicks a instant contenders. Yes they will have to make adjustments. But the kids passing is anything better than I have seen in a while. JKidd is there and I see the same thing in James. If Dice comes back healthy and with James this team will make the playoffs right away. The way I see it James could play point for the Knicks right now there are no ifs and buts about it. A line up of
James pg
Houston sg
Dice pf
Spree sf
you can put any stiff out there at center and this team will win a lot of games. Next year they are competing at a high level. In two years time they are in the finals.

An article outlining where Lebron needs to improve.

http://espn.go.com/page2/s/rosen/021213.html

IMO, he is a phsically gifted athelete, with a NBA body. He will put fans in seats and make alot of games fun to watch. I don't believe he would allow a very bad team to compete for a champioship right away though. He does pass well, but how many of those passes would make it through traffic with NBA defenders reaching into the lanes? A few years into his career he has the potential to be an All NBAer...just not right away.

The east isn't strong and with Dice they are a playoff team adding a James makes them contenders for the finals. With the east being weak I wouldn't be surprised if Dice came back healthy the knicks sitting with a good playoff position and possibly with the right breaks they may end up in the finals. Its not that far out to think that because the knicks still have good players in Houston, Dice and Spree and Thomas who has been producing.

I would throw in any player outside of spree, houston, and dice to get this kid - he will be a star one day I am sure of it. I know a lot of people doubt him, but I think the kid has something special. Put him on a squad with James, and 3 vets who can play and teach - bring in Ewing as the big man coach and I swear to you that team would win a championship.

All these Knicks need is to play with some HEART! And when Dice comes back they'll be killer. And forget about Phil Jackson coaching the Knicks! He's one of those chump coaches like Jeff Van BeGonedy that don't want to coach no team that's not going to have a winning record. Makes the record look bad, having all those Ls!! I'll take Chaney anyday.

Hey if the Knicks get that far they will be contending to win. Lets hope they get there to contend not fold like the NETS did last year. But you gotta take it one step at a time and hopefully it starts with the number one lottery pick what happens after that I'm no fortune teller but I have a feeling its going to be a lot better than what we have been going through the last few years.
