I think there are some players like Bruce Bowen, Brad Miller & Ben Wallace who for the first part of their career really weren't anyone you'd think as special.

Not sure about 6 years, though.

Through Chauncy Billups in with that mix too.

Yes. As long as he is willing to listen and doesn't take a season off from learning becasue he doesn't like a coach. Wasting a season does not improve your learning curve.

Jalen rose broke out at age 27 I think
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

We would need to get real coachs before they listen to their coachs. If I'm made owner tomorrow every knicks coach especially Isiah and Aguire would be fired tomorrow. I hate to say it but that includes Herb. Herb is a great guy but we need 100% change not gradual. Now I would give Herb another job in the organization though because he is a true team gentleman

Again these were all guys that listened and played hard naturally. We are in the process of teaching half our roster how to play hard. Repeat that, we are teaching them how to play hard. Coaches can only do so much. At some point we have to decide is it that our coaching staff isn't teaching them or is it that our players just never learned? Well when I look at our team, our young guys are busting their asssssesss so that tells me that the coaching staff is doing soemthing right. It's the vets that are struggling. How can the coaching staff be blamed for 10 years of history and patterns. Why are we dismissing these guys histories?????

None of them have ever won. None of them have ever shown a consistent habit of playing hard. Okay it's fine to say now they are learning. But we can't blame the coaching staff if they don't learn. It is the players and the GM.

We have 50 win talent and being told to show patience when the team starts 2-6. At some point you need results. Or you need to go with a complete youth movement and yank the team away from the "stars" on our roster.

he said 6-10 years. By year 5 Kobe, Jermain, Garnett were all full fledged stars.

Two guys that jump out at me... Brad Miller and Kurt Thomas. Especially Kurt who became one of the better defensive rebounders in the league and his jumper went from like 12 feet to 18 feet after the age of 30. But as we know KT always showed up in shape, always played hard on both ends and worked very hard to improve his game. Certain people on our squad dont fit that description

Anyone that says we have 50 win talent is nuts. we not only dont have any all stars we dont have anyone thats even close to being an all star

There aren't many that play a ton of seasons that ultimately wake up and play on another level. Guys get incrementally better and can improve fundamentally. But you rarely see a 6-7 year player jump from being a 10 ppg guy to like 18-20 ppg guy. Happened a lot in baseball lately cause of roids, but I dunno about too many cases in the NBA.

I dunno, put nate and craeford on AND 1 and they would be bonifide STARS

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

If you're talking about Eddy Curry, I'm willing to bet that he never fulfills his potential. He just doesn't have that innate desire to get better. That's why I'm sick of getting guys who have all this potential. Give me guys with motors that are hungry to win and compete. Lee, Q, Nate. Who wants to spend the next 5 years hoping Eddy Curry finally gets it? He doesn't love playing basketball. It seems like he'd rather be somewhere else when he's on the court.

And we do have 50 win talent if you are rating this team like you would an amateur baseball player. (Where they base a lot of the scouting on "tools"). It doesn't matter if the tools aren't put to use.

That's the whole point of my post you nimrods. If you look at total skills Marbs and Craw and Eddie and Stevie have the ability to be all-stars. It isn't their skills that are the problems it is their desire, work ethic and ability to do what it takes to win and learn the game that prevents them from getting anywhere. But in terms of raw skills if you think that there are too many people with more ability than those four than maybe someone else is nuts.

By years 6 to 10? A player can improve a little, but it's extremely unlikely he would make a huge improvement. If you're talking about refining one dimension of the game, I could see that. If you're talking about suddenly having good shot selection, good passing, good rebounding, good defense, and good shot-blocking, that's another story. Jamal and Eddy are lost causes.
