Believe it or not there are still some folks in the Knicks organization that can’t bring themselves to say anything nice about Jeff Van Gundy. (You know who you are). They are either stubborn or plain ignorant because Van Gundy did something that none of his successors has done; win in New York.

Regardless, Van Gundy and Isiah Thomas seem to have a healthy respect for one another and following Houston’s win on Friday, Van Gundy was effusive in his praise of some of the players Thomas has acquired.

I met with Van Gundy for 20 minutes in his office after the game and he called Renaldo Balkman “a great pick.” He said Stephon Marbury is still an elite point guard and that when David Lee, Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford are on the floor the Knicks play with pace and intensity.

And he also believes that Quentin Richardson (“Larry Johnson tough”) would have fit in with the 90’s Knicks, a good locker room guy who loves to compete.

“They are going to be a bitch for a lot of teams,” Van Gundy said. “Part of the battle is getting your guys to play hard. And Isiah is doing just that.”

He's right, but notice that he didn't mention Curry and Frye, who were supposed to be the cornerstones of this team's future success, but instead are dead weights that are restricting it's future, especially Curry.

If asked, always compliment your opponent. JVG will always be in debt to the knicks for the opportunity they gave him. He earned it too!

Coaching fraternity.

Still the knicks suck but they are close to getting to the point where they can turn the corner. The knicks are in every game with injuries and their best players playing like ****. The knicks are right there. Question is will isiah. I want to see this group grow with a few changes but basically built around what is pressently working.

I was thinking that the other night. The Knicks seem to have so many one dimentional guys, that some like Q-Rich, who can play both ends of the court, reminded me of the good Knick teams. I just hope his injuries are behind him, and he can keep this pace up.

I think Q is only playing like this so he can be traded out of here. I don't doubt that he would give that effort for a winning team, but I do think he wants OUT of here.

So last year Q played like the worst shooting guard in the league because?

I think Q is playing good cuz he know he sucked last year. Pride.

I hope they don't trade Q. Knicks need to trade frye and either marbs or Francis.

Q's the kind of player we need more of. Last season wasn't a waste for him. He learned to play good d, and now that he's got his o back, he's a good all around player.

i've been saying the same thing for a while now... Q is cut from the classic Knicks' image... he's got that warrior's mentality.

He's from Chicago, mosty of their players in the NBA play with heart except "EDDY THE TUMBLER CURRY"
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I certainly hope so, just hope its not for a player like Zach Randolph.
