Source.

"I'm a fighter myself and I want people who are going to fight and compete," Thomas said. "And if you're not going to fight and compete, then I'm the president and we can give you a pink slip, too."

"The fight has to be in us every single night," Thomas said. "I thought our young guys, when they came in, maybe because they were a little naive about the league and maybe didn't know who they were playing against, they only know one way to do it, and that's to fight. They fought their tails off and consequently gave some of our veteran players the courage to fight."

OH MY GOD!! Can you believe this guy? Doesn't he know that statements like this might hurt his teams feelings? I really hope he's not trying to take away their joy.

Interesting -- the thread title was supposed to include Isiah's quote. I guess when you quote things in the thread title they get deleted. My bad.

Damn eVil, you beat me to it.

I guess only Isiah is allowed to threaten players through the media.

isiah is a pathetic excuse for a gm that's feeling the heat. hahaha, i laugh at him trying to flex his "juice card".

it all comes full circle. laughs about chaney and court marshalls him out of the garden. fires lenny's lone assistant and forces him out. karma and isiah is going to get his.

what a PATHETIC excuse for a team. thanks isiah for a starting five that's nothing but a collection of pansies making a SH TLOAD of money. thanks for a team i can be "proud" of.

hey, hopefully we can play 25 hard minutes a night and before you know it, maybe an entire game.

you F'N DOUCHEBAG.

Where was the "I'm the team president and you can get the pink slip" BS last year?

At this point the Knicks are just comedy. It's like a movie that's so bad it's good.

It wasn't Isiah's ass on the line last year. He didn't care.

He's threatening players through the media after only the 4rth game. Seriously it's just childish as it gets if players get offended for seeing/hearing their name in the press with negativity attached to it if they are a cuase to the problems. But they aren't offended if it's through messages, indirect, or subliminal insults. Accountability with this team was needed 3 yrs ago and too bad for Zeke he's too late.

Also in the postgame press conference that MSG didn't want to show us, Isiah said:

"Your money is guaranteed, your minutes aren't."

So on one side of Isiah's face he preaches patience. On the other he's threatening players with losing PT or even being booted from the team all together.

Watching Isiah's desperation is priceless.

based on that statement & on tonight's game, i guess Isiah will be jettisoning Steve Francis, Channing Frye & Jamal Crawford... i'm pretty sure Dolan's thinking about doing the same to Isiah right about now.

i'm wondering now does Isiah start to experiment w/his starting rotations? that would be way too ironic.

He didn't even mention specific players. It looks like he's just talking more generally about his coaching philosophy. You sit if you stink. What's wrong with that?

Kudos to IT. He tells his players if you dont compete you wont play. If I am going to get fired, I am going down with the guys that play hard.

Tell you what, Mardy played well enough to warrant more time. He played well against a very good team when they weren't asleep(like the 6 minutes in the 4th). I'm not going overboard with him yet, but these Temple guys are usually at least average at best and are normally at least solid.

That being said, I wish we would go all young. We can get a top tier scorer at the 2 or a young 2 and some expiring (JR?) for Francis or Steph. I don't really think we should go for any forwards just yet. I really want to see if Lee is the answer at the 4. He has done extremely well and has earned a starting spot.

I'd like to see

Nate
Craw
Q
Lee
Curry

Collins, Balkman, Rose, Frye off the bench. I really think that we just need to get rid of Steph and Francis. Maybe then, Nate can hopefully learn to be a 5-6 starting PG(where it actually is feasible) as opposed to a 5-6 reserve 2 guard(you realize Nate is averaging only about 1 assist per game?!?)

Red Holzman would bench his starters en masse the same way Isiah did last night

what's the big deal?

Earl, I respect your posts and enjoy reading them, but please never mention Isiah and Red in the same breath again. Isiah isn't 1/10th the coach Holzman was.

IT did the right thing. Stop the hating. The other day there was sa thread about whether IT was a coach. In my opinion, last night he proved he way.

Some of Starbury's qutes today attest tot heat.

"we had no choice but to come out and play hard"

Go, Isiah will earn my respect when he shows me he can actually coach this team. Last night, I didn't see the game-I was at work-but I got some updates. From wat I heard, Isiah had no choice. But to do what he did. 3 horrible games back to back to back and the starters playing really lethargic at home against a good team. Isiah did what he had to do, I don't see it as him "provong he is a coach". He is a coach, and a pretty decent one at that, but this hard-headed approach that this team is truly a masterpiece(he could have bailed on this particular plan a while ago when LB was here and if it didn't work then he could have at least LB as a scapegoat-much like last season-and he would have suffered minimum backlash).

The backlash he is getting now is because not only did he say this is how the team should be, but he got rid of one of the most proven coaches in the league with the impression he is going to stick with his (Zeke's) plan. Then he goes out and gets players that would fit what LB wanted to do better than what Isiah wants to do this season.

Why would playing hard ever be in question?
