Aren't the Knicks supposed to be a "Young and Athletic" team?

New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas warned his players that a young and athletic Atlanta team would provide a difficult matchup.

"It's a tough team for us to match up against on the offensive glass," Thomas said, adding he gave his players the same scouting report before the game.

"A couple of times we had inside position, our guys were trying to block out, but with their length and their athleticism they were able to come over the top and get the basketball."

Weren't Isiah's Knicks, these Knicks, supposed to be "young and athletic"? We're not even "young and athletic" enough to match up well with The Atlanta Hawks???
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

That's the best part about Isiah being forced to coach. He can't just hide from the press and meet with them in controlled sessions every few months. Speaking to the press everyday gives him ample opportunity to contradict himself and show what a two faced snake he really is.

I can't wait for the beat writers to start calling him on his BS. That's going to be pretty entertaining stuff.

Well they got a 6-7 SG, a 6-9 SF, a 6-11 PF and a 6-11 C. We got a 6-2 SG, a 6-6 SF(who should play SG), just drafted a 6-8 SF who played all of 4 minutes when his strong point is athleticism, a 6-11 PF, and a 7-0 C who makes their C look like Mini-me.

Oh, wait my bad. Our newly signed 6-11 PS/SG/SF/PF/C savior that is great at offense and can defend all 5 positions on the court for 49 minutes per game is out. No Wonder we lost!

Go ahead ya bunch of FAKE ASS KNICK FANS, keep it up. After just two games you've already jumped ship like the FREAKIN RATS YOU ALL ARE!!! I think it's a shame that there can be so many so called fans who can't even wait for the team to play it's first home game before they give up on the team. WHAT FREAKING JOKE!!!

Jumped ship?

Not many were on the "ship of fools" that you so proudly sailed.

It ain't like we like to see them lose, its just that we don't have "faith". Faith is defined in a a belief in something that can't be substantiated. Larry had a nice track record and that is somthing we could buy into.

In fact, despite the train wreck last season was, we could understand that he was trying to break it down.

Isiah looks lost. This is not some new thing we just decided to call him out on. In fact, there are some of us that never believed in the hype of his hiring. A starphuch GM hiring does not mask fundamental failure of how this organization makes it decisions.

Knick fans have to pucker up hard to prevent getting starphuched. My reactive muscle as a 35 year long knick fan is very well developed. I can pucker up real good and see a starphuch when its comiing.

I suggest before you go blasting anyone you take a reality check as it might hurt less. I hear your name calling as a cry for help. Im sorry the team let you down tonite.

Pretty much sums it up when Marbury gets an offensive foul rather than pass the ball on wing. The team was divided tonite and did not play as a team.

All the words spewed about teamwork is just words by very rich young men who claim winning is important. I don't doubt there sincerity, its just that they don't know how to win.

Another holier than thou sermon from Revered Luv.

Stop pretending to be a fan yourself when you don't even give a damn if the team takes themselves or their opponents seriously.

Blue and everybody, else, I am just watching the game now, so don't kill me for this, but is every loss the result of poor effort etc.? The Knicks are going to lose some games! Aren't they?

Let's let them get their sh!t together a little something before we conk them over the head with a shovel and start burying them alive!

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I personally think the effort HAS been there, but 'luva explained the loss away as lacadaisical play from not taking the opposition seriously. And he seems to be okay with that mindset - that was his excuse for the team, that they just didn't care enough!

Well what is it that some "haters" complain most about if not the mental makeup of the club? Do you not see the irony of a supporter using as an excuse the very thing that some critics hate most?

Anyway, all observations on the TEAM are most welcome, but I'm pretty disinterested by Mr Luva's missionary crusade against fans. How about we just give him a long Sunday Mass each week and leave it at that?

I used to post much more. One of the reasons, i post less is that I see so much negativity around here.

Just as our society has become a "microwave" society, so has this board. Does anyone understand the word patience anymore? The context at which people seem to look at things is very narrow. Not only here but in the world.

2 games. Yes, I wish they would have won last night. Yes, there are some signs for concern. Frye being the most obvious. Let's see where they are at on December 31st.

The panic is just too much.

True... It's time for some optimism to resurface, GoNY. The team just has to stack up some wins, and it'll happen.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

The Hawks are probably one of the most athletic teams in the league with Childress, Smith, and Johnson. The problem we had last night is that our 6-2 PGs could not guard their 6-8 players. It was a bad matchup and without Jeffries, we lack the quality SF to guard those guys (Richardson is only 6-6 and does not have long arms and Balkman is still too inexperienced). It was a case of bad matchups and our players missing their shots. But the Hawks are a quality team that will be better this year than last year. The gloom and doom talk amazes me. The team is 1-1 after two ROAD games and you are already saying the season is lost.

I think Isiah blew it last night trying to guard Joe Johnson with Marbury. Plus the 4 guards with Curry was a bad move. I would have liked to see
Curry
Lee
Balkman
Q rich
Francis

I think that lineup would have worked much better at points
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg
