From the first two games I've watched, which I admit is not much, what I see as being their downfall is their defense. Paticularly their ability to make a stop down the stretch. If you can't make a stop at the end of the game your not going to win close games. Maybe jefferies when he comes back will help. Offensively we look good. But without a strong defense especaily down the stretch were not going to be much. Hopefully Balkman will turn into a Artest type stopper, maybe not that good, but something along those lines. Also a big Oakley type player to back up fyre.

Simple things like hitting freebies would help a ton too

Frye shot 2-11; Marbury shot 2-9; Craw shot 1-8.

Yes, defense is a problem but these guys have to score.

I just wondering how long it is before Marbury starts questioning this offense and the coaches motives. I've known its been the players in this organization for awhile now but some still aren't convinced the players are the problem. When does everyone see this?

Look at how many FT's Memphis and Atlanta missed. Just wait til we start playing the good teams that hit their free throws.

The Knicks will improve if they listen to Isiah. As nyk4ever alluded to, the issue is will guys like Marbury continue to buy in. If they do, it will be a successful season in relative terms.

So can I officially list some of you as having jjumped ship already? It's the beginning of the season. There's just too much time left in this season to get too crazy about the 1st couple of games.

This was a case of our team coming out flat from the get go. It wasn't anything that the Hawks did on D, it was our awful execution on offense. I think the Knicks were looking past the Hawks, cuz it didn't look like they were taking them seriously. We should've blew them out, but we let them have life and then they got confident.

The Knicks can't afford to be looking past any team. I can't believe they don't know that.

You almost make this sort of thing sound acceptable. coming out flat, not executing, not taking your opponent seriously.

If the Knicks don't give a damn why should the fans?

And forgive me if I am mistaken, but weren't you the one saying this game was a "must win" or something like that?

How can you not take every game seriously considering what has transpired with this franchise over the past three yrs. Do you actually think before you write?

This happens when you have players like Marbury who never hold themselves accountable. The accountability isn't on these Knicks players, they shift it to the coaches and look what we got here, the GM is now the coach. This team will go nowhere until Marbury and Francis are gone.

Francis ha shown early signs of being committed to what Isiah wants. He may be playing too unselfishly.

Zeke has to trade at least one of them. I mentioned this in the game thread Steve Smith Hawks commentator said everytime Zeke pulled out Steph and Steve they would hang their head low coming to the bench in disbelief/disgust that they are being benched.

That may be so Rich and I hope he is but he has a bad history and a big contract. I just feel like this team can't win unless we dump both of the 30 year old guards on this team and start fresh with a true PG.

The team assembled from Small Forwards is better that team assebled from point guards.

Seriously - this group of plyers is sooo blick. Even regular showing of half-star as Johnson is enough to break them open.
It's a shame

Steph is looking like a mediocre player out there. Not even a PG. Just a mediocre player. At least Steve is sort of giving something (his passing was a hell of a lot better this game). I'd have to say Steve is the one I'd want to keep.

I think at this point Jamal if anyone should be on the chopping block. He's been awful.
