I don't think he will. Crawford may be the most maddening player on the team. You never kow what he is going to give you, game-to-game, minute-to-minute. Yesterday was a microcosm of his troubles. At one moment he makes a great play and he is Craw-daddy, 2 seconds later he is shooting a absurd fallaway and I am yelling Crawk-sucker!! at the screen.

He had a couple of nice plays, but overall I think he hurt the team more than he helped. I mean 4 for 22? I wouldn't even mind that but so many of the shots were like something you would see the worst street-chucker shoot.

I am not mad at him for missing the game winners, nobody should be expected to make a high percentage of those shots. However, I would like to see him get a decent shot off, not the world's worst 3 point heave!

One mistake I think Isiah made was going to Crawford again and again for the game winner. I think he should have gone to the hot hand, Q, who is the early season cadidate for comeback player of the year!

I think when all is said and done Crawford will be the odd-guard out, possibly packaged with Francis. (I am thinking for Ray Allen.) One great play does not make up for five stupendously bad shots.

He had that great steal but overall I thought Crawford's D was bad, along with the other guard's D too. Chucky Atkins was just eating us alive, and Mike Miller was taking any shot he wanted.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Craw had the steal and the block. Those were big plays. I never saw him do either of those things last year so I'm happy about that.
Craw is who he is, I blame the other guards for fouling out and making him our only option. Craw is a good 6th man for us, and he did redeem himself and it was on defense, so I wont bash him. The fact the 2 defensive plays by him helped us win really says alot about what Zeke is doing with our guys.

I don't think he'll ever be a consistent player, but over time his game is improving and becoming more well rounded.

Craw's shooting last night was abyssmal, but I kinda liked what I saw regardless. I saw him stepping up and being a leader on both ends of the floor, and I also saw him learning from his mistakes. At first, he jacked up the game winning 3 and miss, after that, he just kept being aggresive, and missed. If half of those shots went in, you guys would be saying "Craw, starter for the all star team!"

This is funny to me when all you do is compliment Frye's non-existant defense, oohah (and I love Frye). why not check out Crawford's D that saved the game? Sure, he missed big shots, but he's the only one on the team with the stones to take them. how many times has Marbury passed off on game-winning shots. Crawford wants the ball in end of game situations, and last year he made 6 game-winners.

Just keep shooting, just keep shooting. And you do that, b/c for an explosive scorer like Craw, he can get hot any second. Again, Crawford and Q displayed some big leadership last night. It was nice.

I hope Q isn't hurt.

oh god, me too.

I agree about Craw. He's got to be a little more selective and drive a little, but with Eddy out of gas, Frye terrible, Francis and Marbury gone, I don't mind Craw taking over. I loved Q's effort, but he cannot create his own shot. He can get his points, but he's not someone you go through to create baskets. But we definitely need Q this year.

It looks like he re-learned a lot of bad habits he spent a lot of time unlearning. That's dissapointing. But I was encouraged at how many times he went to the FT line yesterday. He needs to realized he can beat pretty much any player in the NBA with his dribble one on one, and is a good shooter when set. He doesn't need that pull up/fading back stuff...

Craw had 14 free throws last night.

I did not compliment non-existent defense, he played some decent defense. I don't know what to tell you other than that. When Frye left the game Warrick went off, did you notice?

Crawford had two nice defensive plays but he got worked worse than anyone all night long. Did you notice that or only the block and steal?

I don't know why you are making it Frye VS. Crawford or anyone else. I certainly did not do that. Each player has their own analysis.

If Frye went 4-22 would you give him the same benefit of the doubt? Frye was cold but he only took one bad shot that I noticed. I am just asking for a balanced view.

Craw had some pretty stupid mistakes last night: twice in the fourth quarter and OT's he dribbled down the court in a one on three situation, once turning the ball over and the other time getting lucky as they called it out of bounce on the Griz. He had some pretty stupid shots as well. For the most part though he just wasn't hitting his shots. Most of them were good shots that just didn't fall. He kept his turnovers down (2) didn't get into foul trouble (3) hit his free throws and played like he was running the team (which he was) once Marbury was gone. Let's assume he just had an off night with his shooting... just a handful more of those fall and this wouldn't even be an issue right now.

CRZY, one last question. Because Frye had a bad game does that mean I cannot critique any other players? If a player has the makings of a great game but disappears is it not okay to point that out?

Should we focus only on the players who had the worst games? Then maybe we shold lament Steve Francis and give Frye a pass!

Truth is when a player has a bad game there is not much more to say than "He had a bad game" which I already wrote. IU am not about to decide any player is a done deal after game one.

Why not wait for my Marbury, Francis, and Robinson threads and see if I don't have a fair take?

In fact, have you read anything I wrote about Crawford or Curry that was unfair? Please post a quote if you did.

With that, I look back to that game in Phoenix last year, where he shot like 2-50. (Not so much, but you get the idea. He couldn't buy a shot.) I complimented Frye after that game until the cows came home for staying aggresive and just playing hard the whole game. He just happened to be missing his shots. Same example as Craw last night.

Not exactly. I don't remember the game, but was Frye taking outlandish shots? I have never seen him do that. I understand missing, it happens.

Throw out the end-game shots. That is not a regular shot. I don't think Crawford was just missing. He was taking off-balnce shots, moving right/left and backwards. When he did make his shots he was taking decent shots.

The nice thing about this team is that there is enough talent that when some guys have bad nights, which will happen, others can pick up the slack. There is a lot of talent.

8ball says that Crawford will never be consistent. I thought he had finally turned a corner after last year but it was just a aberration. Atleast he still played a little defense though last nite, I was happy with that.

It's only been one game. No need to write him off as "same old inconsistent jamal" yet. Everyone is allowed (a) off games (b) some leeway at the start of the season.
