The season starts today and depending on how it goes, people will start jumping on or off the bandwagon in a few weeks. I wanted to start the official record of what people predict for this season. No equivocal comments or statements. State a position one way or the other. You either think that the Knicks are going to play hard, win this season, and finish either 7th, 8th or 9th in the conference and IT will keep his job, or you think the Knicks are going to show no heart, get blown out of several games, finish 11th or lower in the conference, and IT will get canned because the team showed no significant improvement. Which is it? State your official position and NO EQUIVOCAL WISHY WASHY ANSWERS. IMPORTANT: YOUR POSITION DOES NOT MEAN WHAT YOU HOPE WILL HAPPEN, BUT WHAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN, SO IF YOU ARE A "HATER" THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU WANT THE KNICKS TO LOSE AND SHOULD NOT BE VIEWED THAT WAY BY OTHERS (AND NO DAMN "I AM A REALIST COMMENTS"). Either be a "hater" or a "kool-aid drinker," don't try to be both.

My position is that the Knicks will be successful and make the playoffs as the 8th seed. They will play hard in the first round but lose 4-2. IT will keep his job for another year. Pure Kool-Aid Drinker.

Sorry but this is stupid.

The thing about me is, I'm a realist. I think the players may play hard, or they may not. Isiah may keep his job, or he may not. The team could go either way this season. They may do very well and make the playoffs, or they may not.

Sorry but this is stupid.

You guys spout off all summer about the weaknesses in the team and why this team won't work. So, I ask a simple question what do you think will happen this year and you call it stupid because you are scared to be wrong. I know it is more comforting to hide behind equivocal comments and "I am a Realist" stances, but WHAT DO YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN THIS YEAR. Have the balls to have an opinion.

whats do you care more about? The Knicks having a good season, or you being right about the Knicks having a good season.

Stupid indeed

sorry, but i have to agree w/isles on this one... to say "Hater or Kool-Aid Drinker: Choose your side" is silly... if you make a prediction that the team won't make the playoffs but will show some improvement from last year, what does that qualify you as? you said you don't want people to say they are "Realists"... so does that make you a "Hater"? under what guidelines? yours?

i'm not trying to get on your case about this, but the entire problem w/this board is the fact that an unbiased opinion cannot be offered without someone labeling you as a "Hater" or "Apologist" or "Kool Aid Drinker"... sorry, but I'm a realist... i know you don't want to hear that but i try to call things like i see them, & don't take any 1 side all the time when i formulate my own opinions.

There are too many options for this to be a legitimate question. They serve your goal of finding out "who the real fans are" and don't really ask a real question. The team can play hard and still finish in the 11th seed if the rest of the East plays well. They can slack off and quit every night and still make an 8th seed if the East has a down year.

So instead of trying to satisfy your own childish ego by trying to find out "who the real fans are" why not just asks for people's opinions as to how they think the team will do. Something like how many wins do you think we'll have?

He wants it to be on the Official Record. Is that so hard to understand?

You guys are missing the whole point of the question, which is what do you think will happen this season. The labels are meaningless in my opinion. I just asked who here is of the opinion that the team will succeed this year and who is not. The label's "hater" and "Kool-Aid" drinker are just labels that have developed, but the question clearly stated that just because you think the team will fail this year, does not mean that you want the team to lose this year or that you are not a Knicks fan, which seems to be what you are hung up on. I don't think anyone here wants the team to fail, but I just posed a question what do you think will happen and everyone so far seems afraid to give an opinion.

I think these guys take so much flak from their friends about the Knicks that they feel the need to take it out on every other person that says anything remotely negative.

You will notice that many of the optimists will say some pretty negative things as well. It just seems to be okay when they say it though. If you bash Jalen Rose or Malik Rose you are an optimist. If you say something about Stephon Marbury you are a pessimist. The reality is you are a pessimist because you disagree with what they say. I've been callled a pessimist a million times by people that predict less or the same wins as me. It's silly.

Speaking of bandwagons: I predicted 35-40 wins this year. After pre-season I'm pretty confident in this prediction. Many of the optimists predicted the same amount of wins. After the pre-season and every positive article you'll notice those predictions keep going up. Who is on the bandwagon?

As for how they will play? Will they play with fire or quit? I don't know. That's the problem with this team. We don't know.

So why not just ask the question, how do you think the team will do? Why stoop to the level of a poor poster? You're better than that.

After getting fat with a sugar headache on Kool-Aid for 15 years I've switched to Crystal Light. I'll have to see a .500 record at the allstar break to switch back. In the meantime, I'll be sippin' Crystal and watching the youth improve we hope.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

It's been my official position for what 6 months now. What does that make me, a kool-aid drinker or a hater? I need someone to define me in order to raise or lower my self-esteem.

So why not just ask the question, how do you think the team will do? Why stoop to the level of a poor poster? You're better than that.

I ask the question because I noticed over the summer that if you asked anyone, "Well what do you think will happen?" No one can give you a straight answer. Do you think the team will fail or will succeed this year? How is that a difficult question or stupid question. Why do you have to qualify everything? Someone said this question was about ego. I actually think it is the ones that refuse to state an opinion because they are afraid of being wrong that are the ones with the inflated ego. I mean, of course, if Curry starts rebounding like Ben Wallace, and Q can shoot at .500, and Marbury starts being a leader, and Fyre plays defense, the team can win. So statements like, well if this and this happens the team can win don't really say much. What do you think will happen is the question. But if the question is too pointed because of the inclusion of labels, I will retract any label comments. To me the labels were not really the issue, it was the opinion. Do you think the team will fail or succeed this year based on what you have seen so far?
