"At my request, the New York Knicks and Larry Brown have agreed to a compromise resolution of the dispute between them. Neither the Club nor Larry have any future obligation to each other and have assured me, in response to my direction and request, that there will be no further public discussion of the matter. In addition, I have assured the parties that this resolution will have no precedential value in any future disputes before me.”

Hope this doesn't mean the whole thing is private to some confidentiality agreement...

Looks like Brown is getting most of the money. If he wasn't, it wouldn't be so private. What a bunch of b.s. keeping it from us.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Glad to see Larry didn't get the entire wad of cash...He certainly doesn't deserve it...

Neither do any of the players on the Knicks.

I don't think the Knicks would settle unless they were getting a substantial discount.

Problem is, I don't think the Knicks had a leg to stand on in this dispute. How many times in the NBA or any pro sport see a contract breached because of talking to the media? David Stern and the NBA weren't about to set a precedent with this, as evident by the line "At my request, the New York Knicks and Larry Brown have agreed to a compromise resolution of the dispute between them."

Larry got most if not all of his contract.

I think LB got the present day value of the $40M that the Knicks still owed him.

So the Knicks would have to write a check for less than $40M and they can say it was a compromise and save face.

Yup!!! Good for Larry for showing Dol what a fool he is. That right there is worth the price.

And what do you think the outcome was? What I suggested was more than plausible since David Stern is never going to set a precedent of having a team not pay a contract of someone that they fired.

That's just logical. Now go ahead and tell us your "I hate LB and he deserved nothing" slanted view of what happened.

bingo.

My take is that Larry was forced to give back every penny the Knicks ever paid him. With interest.

Then why is it a private matter. I think Brown gets most of the money, but the Knicks get to pay in small amounts over a number of years. I sure would hate to be an insurance company, putting a bid in for the Knicks, a high, high risk team. I wouldn't be able to push my premium high enough to make any profit.

it's a private matter because they don't want to set a precedent either way. don't worry I'm sure someone like vecsey will get the scoop.
