more like eddy is the weak link, we need a shotblocker...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

PATIENCE! We have to give these guys time to adjust and find their comfort level. I think it's just way too early to start doubting guys. We have to give these players a chance to work it out. We have leaks all over the place right now. I'm hoping that Jared can make it back sooner rather than later, cuz we need him. Frye looked bad at times early on last year, then he found his groove.

The doom and gloom squad is out in full force tonight, Frye played even worse last year in pre-season and still was productive. I'll wait until a few games into the season before start thinking about who is the weak link or not. This post is ridculous, I guess starting draft thread in October was not enough

There's no question that Frye has to learn to play defense. If he does, he'll be a very good player. But, at this point, it's not a given that he will.

does anyone doubt he's playing out of position? He's a center. 4 years in college a center, and he cant guard NBA PFs. Plain and simple. Why not play him where he belongs or trade him? He's got good value. Its obvious we are going with small line ups and those line ups play well.

I actually liked the way we played today. We challenged shots. We played hard on defense most of the night. We didnt play well on defense, but I was happy with the effort, especially from Crawford and Francis.

Finally Francis and Q showed some balls and whacked guys going for layups.

We are a scoring team, thats our identity... thats OK, but you have to scramble to get yourself easy shots at the other end and I thought we did pretty good at that.

If you noticed Fish, he picked up 2 fouls in a minute or 2 because he was guarding the center spot.

He cannot guard centers. He won't be able to stay on the court. The only reason he was guarding Krstic is so that he would not score 50 on 15/15 shooting against Curry.

So to answer your question, yes, he was playing out of position on defense tonight. At the center spot.

By the way, you have brought up Frye's scoring against centers. Just because he is guarding a center does not mean the opposing team's center is on him.

Frye's jumper looked pretty damn sweet for the 3.7 minutes he was able to play, no?

Krstic is a PF, always has been. Its Collins that has always played center for that team, and now Mikki Moore is probably the backup, or they just go small.

But either way your point is taken... that he cant guard 2 spots now?

I'm so excited we have a jump shooting 7 footer that cant guard. Oh joy.. just what we need on a team full of guards.

That is interesting. Because the lineup on MSG tonight specified Krstic as a center, and Jason Collin as the PF.

I have the game DVR'ed if you would like me to pull a screencap and post it online for you.

In any case, you do realize that sometimes 2 Centers play at the same time? The lineup designations are usually a pretty accurate decription of the actual positions of the starting lineup, but they are not always what the players' true positions actually are.

Example: Latrell Sprewell was always a shooting guard until he got to the Knicks. He was still a shooting guard when he got to the Knicks, but he had to guard Small Forwards. He was asked to accept some of the responsibilitys of an SF. But he was still a shooting guard.

The only reason Collins is starting out there is because Krstic has had trouble guarding centers as he was pretty thin. Collins is a game defensive player at the center spot. But Krstic is filling out now. When the Nets get a real power forward, Collins will be on the bench or perhaps the player traded.

The Nets seem to not understand that Krstic is a power forward either, as they have designated him as a center on their website:

http://www.nba.com/nets/roster/

Frye was guarding the center spot because Curry can't handle Krstic. Unfortunately, Frye can't handle Krstic either. (Though at least one of those early fouls were of the phantom variety.)

Not that I am surprised. You probably don't remember this, but I have declared and explained at length that Krstic is well on his way to being a star player many times in the past year.

I have been saying this forever.....

Don't make me find the threads I made from last season about how Lee should start and Frye should come off the bench.
