raven, Francis played GREAT. He almost would have fit in with the old thug Knicks the way he played.

Raven the thing you really have to understand is people are going to try and find negatives to Steves game tonight..... Which anyone could do sure... But he brought a FIRE to the team that has been severely lacking.. he knocked marcus williams to the godamn floor when he needed to be put in his place. He was screaming, fired up, diving for loose balls, playing hard on D, looking like he CARED. Preseason or not

He led the way we wished Marbury would lead, to put it short. I don't think ther is alot of negatives to be found in Francis' game tonight.

francis was AMAZING.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Exactly. THIS is the Steve Francis we need to succeed. Not the sulking, whining and moaning one that we're all too familiar with.

This is completely wrong! This is the old stevie out tonight. Yes, he put on an awesome performance but, like the times he did this in Houston, we still lost. We need the stevie from the last game - where he makes spectacular plays for the whole team.

He has heart, no denying that, but if the passion is misdirected, the result is unsatisfactory. He had his blinders on tonight, dribbled the ball too much, and ignored his teamates. It's fine that he got 40 points, but if he gets the team involved, everybody gets their points. When one person goes off like that, everyone else basically has a cold hand. Jamal was ice tonight because he couldn't be the point guard. Franchise had the ball too much.

Good post. Still, I think if we have the choice of trading Marbury or Francis, we should keep Stevie and trade Marbs.

I disagree. I have always considered Francis to be a SG masquerading as a PG. Unlike Marbury who just has SG tendecies but is a PG.

Think of him as a SG. Then think about his performance tonight. That is what you want from your SG. Let's not forget his rebounding and assists.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Steve was great but I just don't know what Zeke will do when teams truly man this team up. Obviously their isn't enough balls for the offensive players on this team. 1 of the 4 gaurds are going to become irrelevant. I think Steve deserves more responsibility.

A shooting guard has his PG bring the ball up. Who was the point guard tonight? Not Jamal, not Steph. Really, no one took that role - because steve decided to do everything.

I'd rather have him be the type of PG he was last game. He controlled that game. He didn't control this game. His shot was falling and he played his heart out but he was undisciplined. And the rest of the team took his cue. The whole team was disorganized and undisciplined.

I didn't get the impression that Francis was running too wild tonight. A lot of his attempts came on the break and off good cuts and dives to the basket. I'll live with him taking 20 shots if he knocks down 13 of them and goes 12-12 from the line anytime. Sure he put up great numbers and we lost, but the blame for the loss clearly goes to team D as a whole rather than one guy dominating the ball too much.

The team as a whole definitely did get too undisciplined in the late 3rd/early 4th though. A lot of that had to do with NJ ratcheting up their D but we still could have used some more patience in the halfcourt.

Also have to echo some concern about Frye's role in the offense. I'm starting to like the idea of bringing Frye off the bench so he can be the go-to post up threat for the second unit instead of being strictly a 4th option jump shooter for the first unit. But we'll see how things go. A lot of Frye's struggles in the preseason can also be chalked up to his constant foul trouble.

So Francis didnt involve the team in the offense but we still scored 120+points? Ummm I dont think the offense is the problem bud.

If we had played any sort of D then we wouldve won. 52% from the field. Ugly.
