"We need all hands on deck," Thomas said. "Missing him is a huge piece. A huge piece."

and not having jeffries will be the reason why our defense will be awful (per isiah).

not for nothing, but this is the same team as "you know who" had last year sans balkman and mardy. so why the pessimism about november? if the "joy" is back and everybody is finally on the same page, why are you bracing us for a 5-12 month?

I wonder... will he get a pass for that too? What are the excuses this time?
Why didn't LB get the excuse of not having JJ2? He complained about not having
defensive players, but when he did it, it was sedition. What BS.

just keeping expectations low. saying anything else would be stupid.

Missing Jeffries will be big though becase even though this is the same team, IT obviously felt that not having a premier defender of the three spot was a big hole. Yeah Q did ok, but there's a lot of 3s in the league that killed us last year. And with the rest of our guards being undersized, that 6'11 is hard to replace.

Again, why wasn't that a valid excuse for LB? What about the other 4 positions at which we play no defense? Having a defensive SF is going to cover all that? What a load of crap.

Because Isiah obviously knows what he is doing behind the sidelines and LB obviously doesn't......(please pick up the sarcasm here guys)

Briggs, that bolded part is exactly why I believe Isiah should have to win 45 games to keep his job. Couldn't have said it better myself...I smell a sig.

Now I might be the biggest Jared Jeffries booster on this board but that was absolutely hilarious and 100% true. Why does Isiah get excuse after excuse, I'm so sick of this garbage!!!

I didnt get the impression that he was making excuses. Hes being honest. Look at the schedule. It would be rough for any team in the league, let alone a team coming in with a new coach and a new gameplan.

Hes in a no win situation. If he says that were going to tear it up and we dont then he looks stupid. If hes realistic and says we might get off to a rocky start then hes making excuses. What do you want him to do?

when the knicks were good even when we had adveristy did you ever care who we played or even give it a thought? No we were always the predators, even through injuries and adversity-that was the environment that the knicks created--now we are the doormats and we act like it. i see isiah and this drown stuff in one line and now this pssy rhetoric how about f bring them on i dont care who it is-- we play to win

When Isiah says we suck it's being realistic, when Larry says it he's bagging on the players? I don't know how you feel in the whole Isiah/LB thing so I don't mean to pass judgements.

All I know is if the only difference between LB and Isiah doing this is Isiah is nicer about it and says it in a way where the guys don't feel like they are being held responsible, we made the wrong decision letting LB go and the wrong decision bringing in these pansy ass players.

You know it's not unusual for one player to effect the way a team plays defensively. If that player is in a KEY spot for the team. For us the SF spot is one of those spots. You take a player like Artest and plug him in and any team suddenly gets better defensively. Same goes for Ben Wallace. Not that Jeffries is on that level, but for us he can have a positive effect. We're only looking for an improvement that will allow our offense to win games for us. We're not like LB's Detroit that hoped to win with it's defense and low scoring. So we only need a decent level of defense in order to make our style work. Jeffries does help to do that.

I think Isiah is only lowering expectations for his own benefit and that of the team. I don't believe he really thinks this team is gonna get killed, but since there's a chance it could happen with this opening schedule, he's just covering his butt.

Realistically I think we can go 6-1 at Home and 2-8 on the Road. 8-9 wouldn't be bad for such a rough schedule in Nov. Then we can make some headway in Dec. since we have so many Home games. If we can't win most of our home games then it will be a bad start.

I supported LB until he convinced me otherwise. The main reason I realized that he was ruining the team was when Ariza was benched. I loved Ariza, he always played hard and really left it all out on the floor.

Ariza requests a meeting with LB (seemingly normal thing to do) and LB DENIES HIM. Then he turns around and tells the reporters about it! After humiliating him, he goes the extra mile to call him delusional and insult his intelligence. As an Ariza fan I knew that the kid didnt deserve that. And that sums LB up in a nutshell.

So if that was you (Ariza), would you ever try hard for LB? Would you bust your ass to make those hustle plays when inside youre seething?

I mean LB is a great coach, and last year wasnt only his fault. But he had to go. And while they are both facing the same problems, the way Isiah is going about it will get the best out of his players. The way LB went about was getting nothing.

Isiah is working all the angles to keep his job. He's already working Dolan with his talk about how Joe Torre has a great boss. Now he's working the fans because he knows if boos start raining down from the rafters it's ova'.

how do you know that? from what lb said, "ariza knows why". so it sounds like something was going on in practice that we were not privy to.

LB was a management choice they did the DD there and were the idiots who gave him 50MM$ this is like hockey with deflections and checks all over the place. no man can stand up--this organization DESERVES to fail i may love the U.S but I hate Bush and the same thing goes for the knicks we ned to lose to win LB was RIGHT!
