Being that Franbury is untradable, Crawford probably the most complete guard we have we are built around scoring combo guard that dont defend, and two skilled frontcourt guys who are as bad on help D as anyone in the league.

a)Do people think we can win with that formula
b)whats the best way to go about changing it?

Also, attaching Frye/Curry to Francis might be the only way to move Steve.

larry brown is gone.
team unity is the theme.
isiah's healed their bruised egos.
basketball is fun again.
the joy is back.

what hasn't changed is that the team is still not built right to win legitimately in this league.

and it starts with poor frontcourt defense.

I dont think theyre untouchable if the right trade comes along. I still feel these guys are both worth keeping sround for a little bit longer tho. I know collectively their defense is suspect, and rebounding isnt exactly their strength, but Im still optimistic that it will get better. I mean theyre both only 23!

With Curry I can see if people say that he may never fulfill his potential. Okay, but hes still a real threat in the post. If he can somehow play AVERAGE defense and grab 7-8 boards a game, well I think thats solid. Especially in a league where there arent that many legitimate big men.

Frye is going to be nasty. Everybody is so down on Frye because he had a few bad games. This is the same kid who had that string of 20+ games early last year, who probably wouldve averaged 18/9 if he got the amount of PT he deserved. Cmon its only his second season.

We arent going to be offered anything crazy for these guys. I think its worthwhile to sit on them.

What makes you think that? Would you trade Frye this season and our pick for a top 5 pick from this years draft?

well, if it was up to me its Curry that I would trade, and Frye I would keep

Francis/Curry for Eddie Jones and Stromile works. If I can get Warrick or next year's #1 I would do that. It gets rid of two of our albatross contracts and makes us more of a Phoenix lite type team.

I wonder if Denver would want Francis and/or Curry too. They need some scoring big time.

JC is the most complete guard on the team. Once every 10 games or so.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

right... putting him about 1 in every 10 games ahead of the other guys. Unless you consider pounding the ball for 23 seconds and taking your man off the dribble part of a complete player.

I'm not saying he's a star, just the most versatile in all facets of his game

This is a terrible trade. I love when people bash isiah for his bad trades then offer up trades that suck. Jones is over the hill, swift sucks and has a bad contact and the jury is out on warrick. Our best chance to get good is with curry--like it or not.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

No kidding. Crawford hasn't learned a damn thing. Not a single damn thing. I don't understand his fanbase. The guy gets one steal every 3 games, and people want to talk about how Larry Brown thought him how to play defense. The reason why Frye and Curry has to do so much is because Craw, Francis and Marbury's man has already beaten them off the dribble. Nate Robinson and Q Rich right now are the only complete guards I see so far on this team. Those two would be my starters on Nov. 3

well, thanks to Isiah's trades getting good with this group is about our only option, because there's something called a contract attached to these guys Isiah has traded for, and they all stink. Eddie is an expiring contract, gone after the year, and if Warrick was on this team you guys would be saying he's the next Marion.

Smush Parker averaged 1.7 steals per game, Derek Fisher averaged 1.5...does this make them better defenders than
Andrei Kirilienko(1.5) and Kevin Garnett(1.4)?

I'm a Curry fan
I'm a Frye fan

But no player on this team should be untoucable. Quite the contrary. Isiah should be working 24/7 to dump around 30% of our team which makes up around 70% of our salary cap.

If I could trade Francis and Curry and get something halfway decent back - young players, picks or ending contract, I think I would do that in a second.

I was for the Francis trade because I figured other teams at the time were interested and we'd be able to restore his value- and that might still happen this year.

I was not for the curry trade and I fear he is the second coming of oliver miller.

If he can't play more than 26 minutes now when he is young, what will happen when he is 30?

To me, Frye is untouchable this year unless some clear cut deal comes along that is too good to refuse.

On that note.....

Teams Have Inquired On Francis
Newsday - 10/22 - 5:06 PM EST
Isiah Thomas said "people inquired" about trading for Steve Francis, but "we were not trying to move him."

"I didn't realize what his state of mind really was," Thomas said of Francis. "He really wanted no part of us at that time. He was just in limbo, he didn't know if he belonged or if he was going to be moved on."

Its funny that Isiah will try to make like Francis was all on LB but now he says he has a chance to trade Francis and he says Francis is going no where. Is it just me or is Isiah the master of saying things out of both sides of his mouth? I say this and Ive supported Isiah for 3 years.

sure... lets see who's inquired:
Denver... hey Isiah, how about Frye and Francis for KMart?
Isiah... hmmm, ask me again around XMas

Jerry West... Isiah, how about Brian Cardinal, Damon Stoudemire and Stro Swift for Francis and Lee?
Isiah... hmmm, if Jerry wants him THAT bad he must be good. Better hang on to him after all
