Suns Likely To Shop Thomas
22nd October, 2006 - 2:20 pm
Sun-Sentinel - The extension that Boris Diaw signed this week will likely mean the Suns will attempt to deal Kurt Thomas' $8 million salary they have on the books for the 2007-2008 season.

Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire also have large deals and their owner has repeatedly expressed a strong desire to avoid the luxury tax.

well, we could've used mo's expiring here, probably gotten kurt AND a pick (since they were getting rid of them like hot potatoes). kurt would've immediately started at PF and played backup C. and probably would've stood guard while quentin was beating down steph.

i think they've kind of laid their bed here in terms of spending for the future. we have a 140mm$ payroll--i think 45 wins and the playoffs is the only acceptable scenario here after 3+ years with IT--i dont think he has earned more leeway in terms of payroll

Kurt would NOT start and would have killed the locker room ASAP.

You wuld actually start Kurt Thomas on this current team in this current offense?

snap out of it. you're love of players NOT on the knicks is sickening.(islefat alert...just jokes).

JJ2 is our back up PF/C...kurt is injury prone and slow footed.

Do we even need anymore picks?

MoT got what he deserved and we were NOT going to be getting a pick AND a player for him.

It remains to be seen if we can get anything out of JRose.

just my 2 cents.

If Kurt was solely playing behind Lee and Frye, I'd gladly take him back.

I thought you were against the policy of using expiring contracts as trade bait.

Why would you bring in an aging pf to start over Frye and steal minutes from Lee? Bringing Kurt Thomas to this team makes absolutely no sense.

Huh? IF KT is slow-footed and injury prone--what is Big Game? SpeedY and dependable? JJ has 1/50th of the toughness and heart compared to KT. JJ is just a 7-1 man who was just another lucky fella picked by IT to win the meg NY lottery! hey you never know? hey JJ give me a ring--i can help you scalp another 600-700K a year easy with that loot.

I'm sure Kurt would rather start hoeing on 42nd street than join this team again.

oh actually i just realized that trading an expiring for kurt wouldnt effect our overall cap situation. but still no. I cant imagine him being less of a cancer than mo. unless marbury were traded in a consequent trade which obviously isnt happening as long as isiah is around.

even slowER-footed and MORE injury prone! Neither should ever play a minute ahead of Lee and Frye.

Can we trade them Q and Marbury for Nash and Diaw, while we're at it?

Jalen's probably got more NBA games left in his knees than Amare!

Not the same Kurt who everyone said would thrive in Phoenix and whose numbers would go up, and who would be so indespiensible to their defense, and who we never should have ever traded because he was our best defender and he didn't like Steph. You mean that Kurt Thomas? I wonder why they're moving him? LOL!You mean to tell me that the infalible Steve Nash could not make Kurt better?!?!? Did Steph actually make him better than Stevie McNash did?

you guys are hilarious.

I too thought that Kurt was suppose to ride off in the sunset with Nash. Who would have guess that TT would have a bigger impact to that Suns organization than KT. The basketball gods can be cruel when they want to.

did Kurt have a bad year? His minutes were down, but his production scoring wise was almost identical per 48 minutes between last year with Marbury and last year with Nash. Only his rebounding went down (probably something to do with playing next to Marion) and his FG% was better with the Suns.

If you watched them I thought he played pretty well for them.
