as Lebron James, and Dwayne Wade?

I say of course he does. As a matter of fact, he may be the least athletic of the 3, but he still has lived up to his expectations.

Although there are some who may beg to differ.

Before this summer I would have said no, but he sure looked good in the Olympics. He is the least of the 3 because he is more one dimensional, but I think he has shown enough to be considered as someone who is at their level of play as a 4th year player.

I think Carmelo is an excellent player but I dont think he is as good as Lebron, Wade. I think the difference between Carmelo and Lebron is the same as between Kobe and Iverson. Different types of players, both great but Kobe is overall a little better.

What circle does Wade, and Lebron reside in ... if Carmelo doesn't belong in that echelon?

Definitely - Carmelo is as clutch as wade, maybe more than Lebron right now. give it a year - he's one of those players who will get better his first 5-6 years

I'd say he's a half level below Lebron and Wade. Close, but not quite there. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Anthony is a good regular season player and numbers-wise he will continue to rival both James and Wade. Defensively, I think he's still a considerable liability, due to poor lateral agility as well as lapses in concentration. He's fortunate to have shot-blockers on his team that conceal these weaknesses. While both James and Wade still gamble and miss too often, both react more quickly in defensive isolations.

Anthony's offensive game involves a lot of pump-fakes and physical post-up action - all designed to set up a mid-range jumper. His drives to the basket are similarly inclined - he lowers his shoulder, dislodges his defender and shoots from 15 feet. In other words, Carmello's offensive arsenal is predicated on jump-shooting, which, although consistent, is guardable with sufficient scouting. Like Anthony, James and Wade have predictable go-to moves - the difference is that their unmatched quickness affords them the option of flying to the basket and dunking - even against a defender who sags off. In turn, the binary threat of shooting and driving keeps the defender in a hesitant, transition stance that renders both options more effective. Carmello is still essentially a mid-range shooter who lacks a trump move and struggles against bigger, stronger defenders who don't get bullied easily. The result is that Anthony suffers perennial playoff shooting dips whereas Wade can shoot close to 70% in a series against Detroit. Overall, even though Anthony's numbers are stellar, I think he's definitively worse and likely to remain worse than James and Wade because of his athletic shortcomings.

Actually, I wonder who thinks Wade belongs on the same level as Kobe? Wade isn't that good, at least he hasn't proven it consistantly yet.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I do. Kobe has a stats advantage - but it's not that big.

Kobe scored 35 points to Wade's 27, but Wade had an avantage in shooting percentage, rebounds and assists. They're both good defensively, but Wade may be better right now. Also, Wade's a player who works within a team concept. Kobe's a player who can't get along with teamates. If I had a choice, I'd take Wade.

Wade took a less talented team to the championship than Kobe ever did and it was with an older Shaq.

Carmelo IS better than Wade...and the only thing Bron does better than Carmelo is dunk and pass.

By the end of their career's...Melo will have the most Championships.

Put Carmelo next to Shaq or put him on Cleveland and you will get the same results.

Stop lying to yourself. There's more talent on the Heat than it is on the Lakers. See this is the exact kind of stuff I'm talking about. One more time, it takes a team to win a championship.

'Melo is super talented offensively. I think its way too early to predict who is the best of these 3, because they are all so young and they are all still improving. Give it 5 years (and another DWade ring and probably an LBJ ring) before we start deciding who is the best of the bunch.

Carmelo is certainly one of the top players in the League, even if he can't be mentioned in the same breath as LBJ/Wade.

I know you were playing Panos and I would not take Darko over LBJ, Wade, Anthony, or Bosh, but I think this is Darko's break out year. Orlando is going to give him at least 20-25 minutes a game and he should be able to produce good numbers with that PT.

At what positions are this year's Heat team superior to the Kobe/Shaq Laker era?
