So far from what I've seen from him, I am not impressed at all. Gr5anted I didn't see the game with the game winning shot, but I just don't feel good about him. I am talking especially about his shoot selection and accuracy. Saw too many poor shots last night, and overall his jumper is looking suspect to me. I know we won, and I know now is about the time that DJSUNYC begins to campaign for him to start over Marbury, but I am not impressed.

What do others think?

It's a "compared to what?" kind of thing. Do i love Crawford? No. Do I prefer him over Marbury, Francis and Nate? Yes.

he's still got a lot to learn but I think he's the best bridge between the young and the old and the frontcourt and the backcourt.

I thought Crawford looks good so far. He had 21 points last night despite missing some shots. I think hes the best offensive guard that we have on the team, and probably our best perimeter shooter. Granted, his shot selection needs to improve, but i think this is something that will improve as the season goes on. Id actually like to see cawford in the starting lineup with steph, with fran as the 6th man.

Curry/James
Fyre/Lee
Balkman/Q/JRose(jeffries/q/balk)
Crawford/Nate
Marbs/Francis

killa - i think crawford should start over marbury b/c i don't think marbury fits with this team. if we had marcus williams, i would start him over marbury. same goes for rondo.

crawford - i did not like how he showed glimpses of his chucking ways.

i'll echo what blueseats said:

He shot 6-12. One was a chuck as the period clock ran down to 0 so in reality he shot 6-11. Thats fine. Nobody is perfect

I agree 100%

I still believe anybody that watched the games and still believes that Marbury is the one that doesn't belong, just doesn't like marbury, I think if anything, crawford should be starting when curry is out there and marbury should play more off the ball like he is now.

But to bench marbury is basically because you don't like him, because watching the games, he's fitting in perfectly.

If I said I thought Crawford+Q might be our best backcourt pairing how would you reply?

I only disagree with the explanations for the statements.

To say you think Crawford and Q are our best backcourt pairing and explain it by "I don't think marbury fits here" then I have to disagree with the reasoning.

But everyone knows that CrawQ are undefeated as a tandem and are naturals, however, in terms of a starting lineup, I'm more confident in Marbury starting a game than craw (questionable shot selection, streaky) and q (questionable shot ability, streaky).

Marbury knows how to take care of the ball and plays better defense than what he's been pegged as. He's also a better passer, relying less on ally oops then on bounce passes.

He hits the open jumper and he makes his free throws.

So, you can't knock marbury for his play, you can only go for intangibles like demeanor or body language.

You don't see many threads stating "Not impressed with marbury", but the jury is still out on Crawford.

The problem is none of our guards can guard the PG position.

Fair enough, hoss, but for all of Marbury's theoretical stabilizing influence he just seems to be anything but that. Those intangiables you mention, like demeanor and body language, combined with others like lassitude, seems to add up to starters falling into a hole that needs the second unit to save us from.

In as much as JC and Eddy makes a natural pairing, it may also be true that Marbury and Lee pair well and should come off the bench together. problem is Marbury does not get hot fast and doesn't bring the energy normally expected from a reserve.

It's almost like we're going back to the days of starting Eisley over Ward not because he's better, but because Eisley can't bring it off the bench.

Guard play has been suspect. Nate and Q Rich have been the only thing worth talking about from the guard position. Marbury had decent games, Francis looks ok at times and then dumbfounded at others (too much pounding the ball). Crawford has, is and will always be a chucker. His shot selection is erractic. You have guys on this team that think they can out jump everyone. Curry gets his offensive fouls for trying to bang while Nate and Craw get theirs from thinking they are MJ and Iverson. So much for Crawford's education under Larry. This team still needs a Houston type of player that solid from the outside at the guard position. They don't have it. To be honest neither does most teams in the NBA.

I think the best 3 player combo on the team chemistry wise is JCraw. Lee and Curry. I think those 3 should start. Thats hard for me to say because I'm a frye fan. But those 3 should start. Fill in who plays PG and SF

I say go with that threesome, but fill in the PG and PF (with lee at the 3), then you will see frye (who works well with lee and marbury) and marbury at the point.

Makes the most sense to me.
