I would fire Layden and take the pick myself if I could, but unfortunately thats not how life works. What do you think the odds are that we actually get Lebron if we do in fact win the #1 pick??? You think they would trade it away?

I can say that I am 100% confident that if any team received the #1 pick, and Lebron didn't have a career threatening injury, he would be chosen.

I'm beginning to have a little more respect for Layden. Put Eisley and Shandon on a team with a player like McDyess and they would preform adequately. They were both brought in to be role players, not starters. Fwill looks like an ok draft pick, Milos sounds promising. After seeing 1 game from Doleac he is a good pickup for the money. I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the starting lineup soon.

FWill???? He gets no playing time so he is still unproven, and might get sent to the bench so we can let Postell see some games from courtside for a while. Milos sounds like he could have a huge amount of potential in this league. And the role player comments you made are good as well, but I dont agree with FWill (yet). That being said, this team with Dyess healthy, a decent center, lebron, houston, and milos - and I think you have a winner.

I still think we need another 6-10 to 7-0 big dude to help out. Macullough played like frickin' Kareem with sky hooks until Doleac put a body on him. Kurt is just too small to defend the tall guys. In fact, just talking about right now, I'd be tempted to run this lineup:

Ward (once healthy)
Houston
Spree
Thomas
Doleac

Bench:
Eisley
Anderson
Nailon
Spoon
Harrington

Definitely a weak-defending bench, but I think we'd win more games with that starting 5. Oh, right, we want to LOSE games.

oasis, that is what i meant...if we got the #1 pick, and we still have houston and spree, do you really think layden would draft someone like lebron? or do you think he would trade down in the draft in order to unload salary or get a vet while picking up someone like Chris Marcus or a center with potential?

its not layden that i wouldnt trust. its dolan. all dolan thinks about is money so he might pressure layden to go for a player that can contribute right away. if that happens i am sure as hell not buying tickets.

Well Dolan could possibly make more money off Lebron than the Bulls made off Jordan since Leron is in N.Y.. Thats if Lebron reaches his potential which most believe he will.

A little off topic, but an article on James.

It's sad to see that there is a great deal of focus on the money, especially from the parents.

But you also see in the article that Lebron has a good heart...lets hope it stays that way. The money thing is a little disgusting, but look at society.

that isnt even his biological dad is it? just making money off the kid, what a shame. Its true he has a very marketable talent, but still - they should step off a little. That being said, I think the article was trying to show them being a little sarcastic about the money situation. I am sure they plan on making money off of him, but at the same time they wanted to get the rim he broke to put in a trophy case - not to sell it. The school wanted 6 autographed basketballs for it so they could sell them. That is pretty awful.

I agree with those of you who think its ultimately Dolan's call.
He vetoed some moves Layden wanted to make in the off-season.Id like
to see the Knicks draft the player with the most potential,it
looks at this point that it is James so I say draft him and hope
they dont trade him for a bag of chips.

I think that the "for the trophey case" comment is up for debate. The writer seemed sceptical. Is breaking a rim in a scrimmage that memorable?

I think it would be different if Lebron was asking for the rim from the AD, but who knows.

The one problem I have with Lebron is this, his body type fits the college/pro level. He is playing against high school bodies - 5'9 and not too built according to the article. So maybe he is a good dunker and he is quick, but he also has no competition, making him look a little better then he is. How can they claim he is going to be truly great one day? I mean what I have seen looks impressive, but I just want to know how they seem to figure he is the next Magic or MJ based on the fact that he has been playing high school ball?

He has played against some good competition in games (last year against Carmello Anthoy's team that had at least 3 D1 players) and in camps.

I guess he has played against some quality players - but you know what I mean? Its not like all of his competition is exciting. I am not going to judge him based on only that though - I do think he is definitely a amazing prospect. I just wonder where they come up with it - how do they know how far someone can go?

Thats a very simple thing Majic and Jordan also went through High School Basketball and did what they did. He is on pace or ahead of their pace for the standard that Jordan and Majic played. So you have comparisons and you can project what he will accomplish in the future barring any injuries. I agree the highlights make him look better that he really until you see him play the full game no one will realize how good he is. You can't do that from a highlight reel.
