why did we just bring in 3 guys who cant shoot worth a lick? The suns game plan is predicated on the outside shot--so why did we bring in three guys who cant shoot? where is our outside shooting coming from? and isnt this bad for JC? JC strides were made when he MOVED IN staying clear of the three--utylzing mid range and slashing--guys like marbury francis they are not good 3 point shooters so what gives here?

if it was me, id be pounding the ball nearly everytime i could to curry and frye with JC as mid range and stephon as a slasher/breakdown guy[pass first]
THEN we can have a SECOND unit with Lee at C flanked by Q Nate and Francis

then whoever is better out of balkman jefferies malik etc can play a 10 minute role playing guy on unit 1.

makes any sense?
first unit come strong 28 minutes
second unit plays fast 20 minutes
keeps everyone fresh

It is always 2 ways to approch it.
GM\Couch can decide on the plan to build a team capable to run specific system (Suns, Lakers, Heat, Rockets).
Then the players who are not feet should be replaced with players who feet. This was LB plan

GM\Couch can decide to go with what they have and work on system that feet the players material. I guess this what Knucks are trying to do now.

We have no players of Suns type - the guards are ball hugs and big man are slow and defensless. So we cannot be successfull as a team... So why the hell they want them to play as Suns??? Easy answer..
We can make it entertaining!!! We have a lot of clovnes (hope Jerome will be back too) to make it cool in the Garden.

I agree Briggs, but sadly I'm not surprised by what goes on with this team anymore, not in the least. I expect things like this from Isiah Thomas. And to answer your question, theres an easy answer; Isiah Thomas has absolutely NO IDEA what he's doing. This is 2 years in a row that he's brought in personnel that doesn't fit the style desired by the coach. One time for Brown and now he doesn't even know what HE wants! What an incompetent fool.

I dont think that article says that we're going to play exactly like the suns, I think thomas just referenced them to get the fans jazzed up. I think he only ment that the knicks will be similar to them in that the knicks will play at a peppier tempo. Trying to emulate the suns doesnt make sense even from a laymen point of view becuase obviously the knicks dont have the players that the suns have, so if we can see that surely isiah, a former nba coach, can or so i would assume/hope. In either case its not time for me to complain so long as their seems to be some kind of intelligence behind Isiah's gameplan. I havent seen it yet so i wont really get upset until i see it and it looks stupid.

I actually see why we picked up Jeffries, Balkman and Collins and plug them into an up-tempo type team. You don't need shooters to be an up-tempo team. Just make sure all these guys are slashing into the lane. You also need good defenders to be an up-tempo team.

right. You need good rebounders and outlet passers and guys who move without the ball. You also need a pass-first PG.

Dang. We have everything except for the pass-first PG.

...because Mike D'Antoni does it, and it works for him.

Does anyone else find it amazingly ironic that our self proclaimed leader(remember the "if the guys want leadership then they should look to noone else but me" speech?), always answers the question "why are you doing this" with the respnse "Well, because -insert coaches name here- is doing it?"

You guys have condemned IT's offense before even seeing it. It looked pretty good to me in the preseason, and I think Balkman and JJ2 will fit into that offense. This is especially true with Balkman because he has the ability to get the rebound and run the break. The Suns comment was merely intended as an attention grabber, which is what a GM is supposed to do (i.e. create fan buzz). We will see this Friday if this offense will work with the starters as well as it worked with the SL team.

Phoenix Suns? More like the Paul Westhead Denver Nuggets...Lite.

Why do coaches play that way when they don't have the personnel like the Suns? Because it masks a teams many flaws.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

it also creates more opportunity for wins and is a style fans can cheer to. But it's not a good long term plan if a deep playoffs is your goal.

So they can scapegoat Mike D'Antoni without even hiring him?

I think people are taking the "suns like offense" statement a bit to literally. Isiah can coach. He just can't trade very well I see the team as being more up tempo / running and taking the easy basket. But, they can shoot, just not very well from the outside. Lets see how Q's back is and if Nate can keep it up. We only need two good outside shooters imo to make it work (like the suns) from the outside. If that doesn't pan out, we can still run and go for mid range or inside shots. I don't see the issue. But, the preseason is sort of part of the plan. Adjustments will be made. We do have players that can run. We have a deep bench to tire the opposing teams with this style.
