I really think you will see Nate and Jalen really not see alot of time this year. With Steve, Steph, and Jamal there isnt a lot of minutes for Nate. I think Balkman is going to get 10 minutes a game and Q will be the starting 3 man. From what I have heard Q is a new man and is going to be a different player this year.

heh heh heh, nice......

actually i wouldnt be opposed to q as the starting 3, as long as he can hit a shot this time around. but doesnt that make the jeffries signing officially a flop?

I think we play three guards a fair amount of the time, so there will be a few extra minutes. Between Q, Nate, Balkman, and Rose... at least two of those guys is getting very minimal playing time with our roster, as is.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I agree with this 100%!
In fact I made a thread like this about weak ago. Saying that Balkman is going to a cause Jalen, Q or Nate to hit the bench.

This is how I broke down the minutes.

Curry ( 30 ) / James ( 13 )/Frye (5)
Frye ( 25 ) / Lee ( 18 )( Jeffries (5)
Jeffries ( 20 ) / QRich or Jalen ( 17 ) Balkman (11)
Francis ( 33 ) / Crawford ( 15 )
Marbury ( 36 ) / Crawford ( 12 )

Right now the knicks are in good shape if isiah is true to whole competition thing with the minutes. If he plays no favorites and let's the best men play then its all good for the knicks.

I like how big C has the minutes spread out. I see Jared getting the start and either rose or Q fighting for the starters minutes. Its a beautiful thing.

There is a possibility that the knicks could run a 3 guard set with marbs, Francis and craw. Why not? Its very interesting. I trust isiah will honor these guys work. The work of the players will determine how the knicks play.

Thanks for the props!

I think many of the players are in for a shock playing for Isiah. They probably feel he is going to be a nice guy. But Isiah is a hard nose coach that could careless about their feelings. Look how he use to go at Artest.

And most people talk as though Malik isn't on the team. Either list him as a guy getting minutes, or as a veteran 'leader' displaced of minutes. But he IS still here!

no, malik is not here. To keep clinging to this is absurd.
why even bring him up?

Nate is the odd man out...he'll be the sideshow at home games that everybody loves...doing alley oop dunks in blow outs.

I think in the end Frye will have more mpg than Curry.

just a hunch.

haha

But he is a guy who complained about minutes when he was playing behind Duncan, and he is a guy who Isiah brought in for leadership. He will be a guy who makes his presence known. We just don't know if it will be on court or off, or in a positive role or negative.

he's the same as moT for me...liked the trade for the immediateness and the future.

but lee has become a younger more athletic version as frye did to mot.

for depth purposes and veteran voice in the locker room, maybe, but he's a brown deciple (sp?) via san antonio and will always find fault in zekes methods.

the knicks have record number of coaches and the veterans we have serve more of a purpose in the playoffs and when we are forced to go down tempo (a byproduct of coaching adjustments) but during the season...he should find some nice ties.

I think Isiah brought him in for draft picks, not leadership!

Then we traded Nazr for the 29th pick. I like lee, but as a rule a starting ~28 yr old center for such a late pick is not a good trade. In interviews Isiah said he liked Malik better than Nazr as a basketball player.

The year before he tried to trade Kurt for him.

Again, in general trading a starting caliber bigman for a late draft pick is not a good deal.

And who was he looking to for leadership? Marbury? Big Snacks?

I believe we got TWO FIRST round picks.

http://www.nba.com/knicks/news/rose_050224.html

NEW YORK, February 25, 2005 – New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that forward Malik Rose and conditional first-round draft picks in 2005 and 2006 have been acquired from the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for center Nazr Mohammed and guard Jamison Brewer.

Does that change your retort somewhat?

also, i do not think you are being acurate in stating isiah said he liked "rose better than nazr" and if so it's completely out of context. I believe it was a business decision in that he felt nazr was not worth starting big money and rose was expiring in 2 years after the deal.

To continue to look for faults in previous trades is proving fruitless as when isiah arrived he had a bloated roster and no first round pick the coming year.

Since he has acquired 5 first round picks (maybe 4, not sure about nate).

I suppose, but it still doesn't change the situation at hand. He's here, and I don't think he can simultaneously be excluded from lineups, and also from those who might complain.

Isiah's got a tough task ahead of him. It's only less tough because Marbury knows he's his salvation, and because he (Isiah) wont have himself undermining himself as he goes. But I already see him manuevering and building in excuses.

Anyone seen today's articles about who's fault Steve Francis is? That they are still talking about this and manuevering through the press is NOT a good sign for team unity!

I disagree again. When rose was acquired, he was a back up, that was before lee, frye, curry, JJ2, JJ1, QRich.

It's called moving on.

And those 6 I just named above, as flawed as they sound, are better options than malik.

I've heard much harping on previous moves and saying, well, if we did this move than the next move was a wasted move, and that is what I feel is kind of too old school thinking.

The constant upgrading of the roster has us where we are today and that's the luxury (sp?) of ignoring MoT, Malik Rose and to a lesser extent JJ2 and JRose.

Our future and present are here.

Bash marbury all you want, he's still our best player.

The only people harping on who's fault steve francis is are the same people rooting against the knicks.

Just like the malik move, at the time, talk all you want, but now, nobody even cares about malik.

He'll be waived or traded within the next 12 months.

And he'll be back in san antonio where the fans love him.

But bs, this thread is about who the odd man out is, not marbury's leadership or who's fault francis is.

I suggest you start another thread.
