Much overlooked part of his game -- and one that makes him a better fit for this team than we're giving him credit for. We all know that our front line is below average in the rebounding area; picking up 5 or 6 boards from one of the top rebounding guards in the league will help hide some of those flaws.

I'll put up with a few possessions a game where there's too much 1 on 1 and too little movement because Franchise and Steph forget we're running a triangle/motion offense and lapse into old habits ... in return for those extra 3 or 4 boards from the SG spot over what we'd get from a typical two.

All this assumes Franchise is buying into the system, playing with energy and not pouting. If he is (not a small "if", I admit), don't think the fit is as bad as everyone's saying.

not overlooked at all. Its huge if we are going to be successfull. Assuming JJ skinny, Frye and Curry start up front thats a VERY weak rebounding group. We will need Steve to get 6-7 boards a game. If Q gets time at the 2/3 same thing there.

I would start Steve and Jcraw. Let Marbs come off the bench as a 6th man with Nate
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

you cant... there's no way Marbury or Steve arent starting. They both had to and ISiah knows it. They can play good soldier bla bla bla but if they dont start its a sulkfest. They are our guards. I would bring Crawford off the bench for 30 minutes a game backing up the 1/2 and in 3 guard alignments. Use Q as the 4th guard w/ some time at SF

Nate sits

i'd use Q at a SF w/JJ... Nate would get playing time backing up Marbury at PG w/Craw backing up Francis as SG, at least to start the season off... we MUST have Francis playing at a high level by the Allstar break so his contract can be used as a trade asset, instead of being a hindrance on the cap for the next 3 years... same goes for Marbury... Nate & Craw have a future on this team still, so i don't mind seeing them on the bench for now... & i happen to think Q is part of the solution going forward, & not part of the problem... he's shown himself to be 1 of the few guys on this team to have the right attitude & outlook on how they approach the game... last season was tough for him from a personal standpoint everyone knows, but i think this year he'll make a nice bounceback season.

basically, Isiah's going to want to win as many games as possible, but for me, the season's more about raising the trade value of some undesirables & clearing a way for cap flexibility going forward... if Isiah can manage that, then i will consider this season a big success, playoffs or no playoffs.

I just think Nate's the 4th of 4 small guards so I dont know where he fits or gets time. I like him... he's retarded but he has potential to be a good player. He's an underrated shooter which I think will actually be what earns him or losses him minutes.

The frontcourt is about average rebounding and the backcourt is above average. So, the team will probably outrebound its opponents again like last year. This was never a concern for me.

So you are saying that you are okay with being average???

It's okay to ask for more. It's okay to ask a 7 foot 400 lb center to average closer to 10 rebounds and grab a big one down the stretch. No? OR should we just shut up and be satisfied with him being okay at it even though the guy is capable of more.

The last time the Knicks were a dominant force, Ewing & Oakley were averaging about 11 & 10 rebounds together.

We need something close to that from two of our frontcourt (C, PF or SF) people this year. At least 9 & 8. I'd even settle for 9 & 7...but we need to improve in the rebounding area.

we sucked on the boards last year. You can look at numbers or you can look at the games where we were pushed around on a nightly basis, where guys crashed the glass and dunked on us on a nightly basis.

The last "good" rebounding team we had had Deke, Kurt and KVH up front. He collected a lot of rebounds last year which means crap IMO. We were NOT a team that had pressense on the glass on a nightly basis, and if this quick offensive scheme is going to work this year we better be able to clean the defensive glass.

No, I didn't say I was okay, ecstatic, angry, or anything else. I just said the frontcourt was average at rebounding while the backcourt was above average.

Francis is a better rebounder, better at feeding the post (Marbs is horrible at feeding the post), and has fresher wheels. Marbs is all about his own shot and dominating the ball so let him go wild off the bench. Jcraw is the only natural 2 guard so let him start.

So you determine who starts on your team by who sulks? Would a great coach like Bill Parcells do that? Would Pat Riley? Would Phil Jackson? No so why should we. If Marbs suclks then send him to Houston to train with Penny Hardaway. It should be 100% team first not he who sulks most plays most

this is not my team. I would have never collected a bunch of loser quitters like this Isiah did. My only point was that id Isiah is going to have any success with this group he's committed and obligated to live and die with Franbury, unless he quickly finds a trade for one.

And yes.. those coaches would. Sometimes its about playing the hand your dealt.

You asked me out of nowhere if I was "okay with being average" followed by several question marks--when I never said such a thing. And no you're pretending that *I'm* arguing with you? Wow.

If your guards are rebounding more than normal it means they're not in a position to push the ball up....unless they're Jason Kidd clones.

Where are the big men when these guards are rebounding?

If you're leading the league or are one of the top leading rebounding teams with your bigs getting the brunt of the boards; then you're making a difference in the standings.

Yeah those teams with Micheal Jordan and Magic Johnson getting 6-9 rebounds a game were really bad, lol. :)

No chance the coachs I metioned would play somebody because they sulk the most. Phil Jackson didnt given in to Scottie Pipens sulking vs the knicks in the playoffs. He called Kukoc for the game tying shot. scottie couldnt deal with it so he took a seat on the bench.
